This 1963 Corvette split window coupe now up for auction through Verrillo Motor Car Co. might be as close to perfection as a modernized C2 can get — and bidders on Bring a Trailer seem to agree. With two days left, the price has already climbed to $151,000, and the comments section is buzzing.
Part of the excitement comes from the car’s recent hardware: an NCRS Open Class Emerald Award, earned at the 2026 “Show Me” regional meet in Springfield, Missouri. Two judges spent two days scoring the car across 10 categories — personalization, operational completeness, functionality — and it walked away with a 98.1, including a perfect 400 point interior. As commenter e30_hoarder put it, “An NCRS Emerald Award on an SRIII chassied split window is insane validation.”
The build itself – which includes $57,000 worth of additional documented work by Verrillo in 2025 – is a showcase of modern craftsmanship. Power comes from a GM LS376/480 crate engine managed by a Holley Terminator X system and paired with a 4L60E automatic. Underneath, an SRIII Motorsports tube frame chassis carries QA1 coilovers, a four link independent rear suspension, and a Dana 44 with 3.55 gears. Braking is handled by Wilwood four piston calipers over drilled and vented rotors, fed by stainless lines.
Up top, the fiberglass body wears Sebring Silver Metallic, polished stainless trim, triple chrome bumperettes, billet hood grilles, triple taillights, and chambered side exit exhaust. Inside, the car is wrapped in Twilight Blue leather — a choice that sparked debate. Commenter Lee77 admired the build but admitted, “I would have gone with either a black or gray interior… color is an opinion, so I could be wrong.” Others, including this writer, loved the boldness.
The cabin mixes vintage cues with modern tech: LED lighting, Vintage Air climate control, power windows, a Lokar shifter, and a five speaker stainless grille sound system. A Kenwood touchscreen adds a backup camera, smartphone connectivity, and satellite radio. The digital Intellitronix cluster glows blue behind a Billet Specialties wheel on a Flaming River tilt column.
Under the hood, the LS376 sits in a smoothed bay with stainless headers, a fabricated intake manifold, Coffman billet valve covers, and fresh wiring and HVAC lines.
Of course, not everyone is sold. Commenter MikeFiftyNine pushed back on the hype, calling it “another cookie cutter ’63 restomod with billet cheese,” questioning the wheel choice and interior color. Meanwhile, Stratos joked that in his affluent town full of Ferraris and Porsches, a ’63 SWC restomod like this would “twist so many heads that the local chiropractors would be busy for weeks.”
And then there’s Hoppy18, who simply called it “a stunning silver bullet,” adding with a wink: “The perfect vehicle to run over an oncoming brood of vampires.”
