[VIDEO] Here's the Off-Road C8 Corvette That Everyone is Talking About

Okay, Corvette fans! Here is the video that has everyone talking this week. Well, it’s actually Part 1 with Part 2 coming today or tomorrow. If you’ve seen the Rapid Blue C8 Corvette for sale on Facebook Marketplace that was captured flying through the air mid-jump, then this is for you.

YouTuber StreetSpeed 717 aka Mike Hysong has purchased another C8 Corvette Stingray and says that he wants to do something a little different with this car. Instead of building another modified street car, he wants to go off-road much like the lifted purpose-built Porsche 911 Dakar rally car that came out late last year.

So this video serves as a Proof of Concept about the prowess of the C8 Corvette in an off-road environment, and we are happy to report that it passed its test with flying colors…and we do mean flyin!

We actually saw this video late yesterday, but Mike took it down sometime last night, and then it was reuploaded this afternoon with the title “My Lawyer Told Me to DELETE This Video…” What was cut from the original, we don’t know. However, Mike did get in trouble from the State of Pennsylvania for jumping his TRX pickup over a small creek a year or two ago, so it sounds like he was just being prudent.

Look, if you don’t like to see the Corvette hooned off-road, then this video isn’t for you. When I watched it the first time, I told myself “It’s just a Chevy, right?” and there is really nothing wrong with an owner exploring the car’s limits as long as he is also able to accept the consequences and damage that may result. And in fact, I came away from this video very much impressed with how well the mid-engine Corvette Stingray does off-road. That’s because the extra weight over the rear wheels gives it plenty of traction while the front lift provides a few extra inches of clearance.

Mike puts the car through its paces and there are massive power slides in the field, he gets a little close to a pond and needs to be pulled out, and at one point he gets stuck on a downed tree. We thought the front splitter would be gone for sure, but after a full afternoon of driving off-road and leading up to the big jump at the end of the video, the usually-fragile aero accessory looked to be still affixed to the front of the car.

Like we said, this 18+ minute video features just about everything you would never do in your Corvette, and it comes to an end just as the C8 Corvette takes flight. We think an off-road Corvette would be a lot of fun, but to us the E-Ray would be much more suited for Dakar-style Corvette with its eAWD. That would have really helped when the Stingray was stuck down by the pond or on the downed tree.

  1. I’m not wasting 18 minutes of my time watching this video, but I just don’t understand what the hell is wrong with this idiot.

  2. Most of us who worked hard to obtain our Corvettes were also raised to take care of our stuff.

  3. The car has no plates on it. It’s a GM test car or insurance totaled destined for the crusher. This is why it’s being driven in a field because it’s no longer certified for road use. Same thing for that Dodge truck he wrecked. Nothing to see here.

  4. You’re right Mike, this video isn’t for me. Let others waste their time watching the ridiculous destruction of your car. Not falling for your click bait anymore.

  5. If this was an owner enjoying his car, I would understand. But it’s a YouTuber douchebag looking for clicks. That’s all it is. YouTube had enabled him to be an idiot and you are encouraging him.

  6. This is disgusting. There are people out there who have been waiting, patiently, for their Corvettes, yet YT douschebags, who seem to have absolutely no problem getting their hands on a C8, do this for likes.

Stop posting this crap, and anything else from any other ‘influencer’. Your posting their content gives them EXACTLY what they want- hit counts and a cheap dollar. You’re better than this, CorvetteBlogger.

    This is beneath our community.
