[VIDEO] Drone Shots of the Corvette Assembly Plant Appear to Show the First 70th Anniversary Z06s


Check out these recent drone photos from the Corvette Assembly Plant. The photos come from professional photographer Brian Caswell on Facebook and it’s a view that we hardly ever get to see.

The photos were brought to my attention from a post on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com which appears to show the first 70th Anniversary Z06s in the line-up.

From the view in the air we can get a sense of the scope of the plant with the completed C8 Corvettes in various stages of being readied to ship. We can see the completed Stingray with the white transport covers ready to ship, but also there are lines of completed cars that we can see under the Kentucky sun still waiting to be covered. It’s a great way to see a bunch of colors at once! We can also appreciate the plant parking the Red, White, and Blue C8 Corvettes on the display area in front of the plant:


There is another photo not included in that set that is the money shot in our opinion. In this photo by Brian aka SpeedShot Photography, we could see what we thought were a couple of Z06s in the line-up and upon zooming in, there were signs that these two Z06s are actually the 70th Anniversary models. The Pearl White car appears to have the 70th Anniversary badge on the door and a light-colored stripe running over the car. The Black Z06 is also in a line of striped cars and there is a splash of white through the passenger window that leads us to believe this could be the 70th Anniversary’s Ceramic-colored seats.

According to the date/time stamp, these photos were taken back in June and shared on Facebook on June 22nd so they are nearly two weeks old. We wonder if those Z06s were captured on any of the recent transporter photos showing several more high wing Z06s shipping to Detroit.

As I was digging around for more on these drone shots from Brian, I came across this video from CarSpeed on YouTube who also helps to break down this C8Z 70th Anniversary sighting so I wanted to include it as well. We agree with him that these are saleable units, but they are still considered pre-production Corvettes until the customer-ordered cars start rolling down the line.

  2. I can’t wait not to be able to buy one for 5 years! Hopefully I won’t have died of old age before I can order mine.

  3. Jim…I’m on a “list” that may not be that much ahead of you. I wonder if by the time my turn comes up, will I be able to get in the car or will the C9 have replaced the C8 before my turn. The GM executives and the US government are in a hurry to see EV production well underway. Those “descendants” of Zora and his mindset are nearing dinosaur status and being moved into the EV department.

    Bob…those dealers who will likely only see a handful of Z06’s will certainly be milking them for all they are worth. Maybe they can find buyers in Dubai.

  4. Several loaded trucks on the lot, why aren’t they on the road as soon as they are loaded? More empty rigs and MANY covered cars on the lot, why aren’t they being loaded? Why? Because GM doesn’t give a shit when you get your car. The plant shuts down every time the moon changes and posts different excuses which could all be remedied if anyone important at GM cared. I’m old and doubt I will ever have to buy another new vehicle as my ’01 Silverado and my ’07 Z06 should last me the rest of my life. Zoom Zoom

  6. Can only sell over MSRP if their are dummies that’ll pay over MSRP. I love them like kids but I didn’t pay over for those either.

  7. There’s no such thing as a 70th anniversary ZO6 because Chevy never built a ZO6 in 1953!!
