BLOGGER BUILDS: Mitch's Arctic White Corvette Z06/Z07 is a 70th Anniversary Edition Waiting to Happen

My three colleagues here at CorvetteBlogger have done a great job with their Z06 builds so far, but I must admit I’m having quite a bit of trouble with my choices.

Most of my previous dozen Corvettes have been some shade of bright red, starting with a red-on-red 1980 coupe. That is, until my seventh generation 2015 Stingray. There they were, two convertibles sitting side by side by the used car lot at a Georgia dealership back in 2016 – one in Torch Red and the other in Laguna Blue. Surprising my family to no small degree, I chose the Laguna Blue because I thought it looked so mean with the black interior and black stinger hood and never looked back.

My 2020 Stingray last year was an easy decision, though – I returned to my roots with a Torch Red 2LT with Adrenaline Red interior.

As I’ve played with the visualizer to come up with my build for a Z06, though, I’ve become torn again. I really loved Jeremy’s Torch Red coupe with that new great-looking 3LZ Dipped Adrenaline Red interior, and Keith’s Hypersonic Gray convertible with the same color interior was a choice I could definitely be happy with. Alex’s Amplify Orange convertible with Dipped Natural interior also had me drooling.

I actually considered all three of those colors for my own build and believe it or not, even flirted with the new Caffeine – which to me is a throwback to the 1970s when brown cars like Cutlasses and Camaros were considered beautiful. Having not actually seen this color in person, though, I would be hesitant to lay down a hundred grand for such a Caffeine car. In my mind, I think Caffeine with black interior would look great with white stripes, but alas Chevy hasn’t seen fit to include such an option with its striping similar to the white stinger hoods that looked so nice on red C7 Grand Sports.

If I can take a brief moment and offer some advice to GM, it would be to keep working on the visualizer and try to get the colors looking more realistic. The Rapid Blue, for one, doesn’t look much like the real thing, so it was hard for me to consider such a color on my Z06 build.

After all, the color is the main decision for me because everything else falls into place for me after that. I loved the Torch Red on a C7 Z06, but then one day I saw an Arctic White Z06 convertible with Adrenaline Red interior in person and absolutely fell in love with that combination.

That’s why after much internal gnashing – and don’t tell me I’m the only potential C8 Z06 customer out there facing such a dilemma – I’m going to go with an Arctic White convertible over that stunning new Dipped Adrenaline Red interior for my build.

I’m choosing the convertible because I like the idea of having instant access to the great outdoors with the push of a button, even at speeds up to 30 mph, plus not having to take up valuable storage space in the rear trunk for the roof panel, especially on a long trip. That was another tough choice, though, because I really would love to show off that magnificent LT6 engine that Tadge Juechter and his crew have developed.

Even though I’m not much of a track person, I added the Z07 package just in case I wanted to get in touch with my Jordan Taylor persona – that plus the awesome way it changes the appearance with the carbon fiber exterior aero pieces.

I’m usually operating on a budget when I buy a Corvette, but since this is Keith’s money, I’m going all out and choosing the Level 2 Carbon Fiber Interior Package on the interior because this Z06 is definitely a car that deserves the best! I also added those nifty exposed carbon fiber wheels, plus a high wing spoiler in the rear.

While I did choose the 3LZ package, in real life it’s doubtful I could afford it. That’s why I was happy to see that the base 1LZ trim level includes the Rear Vision Camera in the mirror because I don’t think I could live without that (even though with the top down, I’d have to since it quits functioning). Unfortunately, you have to bump up to the 2LZ to get other safety features like the Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert, but I could probably live without those luxuries.

All in all, I’m sure Z06 customers out there will be facing some tough decisions in the coming months and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some photos of real-world examples. They’re going to be stunning Corvettes, that’s for sure!

  1. Nicely spec’d, Mitch! After years of gravitating towards flashy colors (like my favorite, Inferno Orange), the red interior Storm Trooper ended up being my surprise favorite C7 combo. This new adrenaline-dipped option makes that option even more tantalizing!

  2. Mitch, it’s impossible for Chevy, or any other web designer to get colors correct for everyone. Especially if you’re using a mobile device. Every manufacturer uses a different color profile and Apple and Samsung are notorious for over doing it in the color saturation area. So, unless you’re using a color balanced screen you’re not going to get a true representation of the color, and it’s going to be different for every display on the market.

Black, white and greys and even red are not as susceptible to present as wrong as are blues and greens.
