In 2019, the C7 Corvette was the most American vehicle of the year.
With the switch to the mid-engine format for the 2020 mid-engine, though, the Stingray has dropped out of the top spot but still managed a tie for third place this year, according to the latest annual study by the Kogod School of Business at Washington’s American University.
Our friend Steve Garrett of the CORVETTE TODAY Podcast initially wanted us to come on his show to talk Corvette news and rumors one a month, but with so much info coming out of Bowling Green regarding 2020 Corvette production, as well as a bunch of C8 Corvette prototypes roaming around the high altitudes of Colorado, he wanted us back on the show to talks about the latest developments since our last appearance.
Driving a 1962 Corvette restomod with the top-down offers one of the most visceral driving experiences a Corvette enthusiast can experience. However, no other car is more exciting right now than the 2020 Corvette Stingray with its new mid-engine design and entry-level performance that means business. You can win both these cars in the Corvette Dream Giveaway, along with $45,000 to pay the taxes. CorvetteBlogger readers can receive 50% more tickets with your donation to veteran and children’s charities.
Talk about your lack of legroom, at least for an adult!
But on the other hand, there’s plenty of headroom for everyone in this totally restored 1960 Corvette kiddie ride that pays homage to the popular TV series, “Route 66.”
I mentioned in the tail end of last night’s 2022 Corvette Z06 sighting that I just heard from another reader who said he has some pics of these C8 Corvette prototypes from their hotel and this morning I awoke with three new photos in my mailbox. Thanks again to Mark for sharing these with us!
Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

As we have been talking about the last half of the week, the Corvette Team is in Colorado and with multiple C8 Corvette prototypes and it was only a matter of time before we got a money shot like this!
A member of the Facebook group C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) shared two videos (only one which we can embed) of a camouflaged C8 Corvette prototype believed to be the 2022 Corvette Z06. The prototype was wingless and features the center-mounted exhaust that was first seen on the test cars back in June outside the Milford Proving Grounds.
Dylon DeBaca is the original poster of the video and said, “Here’s the 2nd prototype C8 Vette we saw this morning. I believe he was sitting waiting for a computer or diagnostic system/something to reset before he pulled off again. Great music from the mid exhaust, though. Most likely a ZR/Z06 or Grand Sport, because base models would likely be dual exhaust. 2nd post today, I feel special. Thanks for the good feedback guys.
The first prototype he came across had the exhaust pipes in the corner of the car like the Stingray, however, check out these side rocker panels on the car, which also had its wheels and brakes hidden from view. Do these rockers point to these prototypes having a “wider” body than the Stingray?
That’s a great sighting from Dylon. According to Google, Loveland Pass is at an elevation of 11,990 feet so they are way up there! I just heard from some another reader about another sighting so if you see any testing going one, let us know!! You can see those new C8 Corvette prototypes pics here.
UPDATE
Thanks to Dylon for sharing this second video. It was actually his first sighting, before spying the Z06 prototype above. He does a walkaround the car and then the driver takes off and heads down the road:
