Let’s be honest, most of us will never slide behind the wheel of a 1954 Corvette, let alone drive one. The closest many enthusiasts will get is watching the four videos included in the current Hemmings listing for VIN E54S001941, the 1,941st Corvette to roll out of St. Louis that year.
One clip captures the unmistakable rhythm of the Blue Flame inline six, another shows the owner flipping through stations on the signal-seeking Wonder Bar AM radio, a charming reminder of just how futuristic this car once felt.
With bidding currently at $30,000 and a little over two days left, this Polo White roadster is drawing plenty of eyes—more than 6,000 views and 88 watchers so far.
According to the seller, this ’54 Corvette is in excellent condition, having been restored more than 20 years ago to its original Polo White over red vinyl color combination. While the engine isn’t the one it left the factory with, the replacement Blue Flame 235.5 cu in inline six has been correctly detailed to match factory specifications.
That includes the trio of “bullet”-style air cleaners, a feature unique to early production 1954 cars built before serial number 002906. The seller notes that “every effort was made” during the restoration to maintain authenticity and it shows.
The Blue Flame engine carries the correct F54YG block stamping, though the head casting number (3835913) differs from the Corvette specific 3836241. Power flows through the only transmission offered that year: the Powerglide two speed automatic.
Other mechanical notes:
• No reported issues with the manual steering or braking systems
• Oil cooler lines replaced in 2023
• Starter and battery replaced in 2024
• Windshield wipers are the only known functional issue
• Reproduction Firestone whitewall bias ply tires sit on correctly painted red steel wheels with full wheel covers.
The Polo White finish – done at the time of restoration – still presents well, with no significant blemishes noted. Chrome trim remains bright, and the beige folding top appears clean and properly fitted.
Inside, the restored red vinyl cockpit shows minimal wear. Equipment includes a floor shifter, heater, Wonder Bar AM radio, the Powerglide selector, as well as the original style gauges and switchgear.
The seller reports the interior remains true to factory form, with only the wipers needing attention.

Most of the restoration work was completed around 2003, prior to the seller’s ownership.
As the second year of Corvette production, 1954 models represent the earliest chapter of America’s sports car.
