We’ve been paying close attention to the production numbers with the new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport now in the mix as Chevrolet has high hopes for what it believes will become the focus model for the remainder of the C8 generation. Based on the latest production numbers, it’s been running right at 35% versus the Stingrays which have led all C8s with 41% of cars produced.
Previously, we did notice that first occurrence back in August when Grand Sport production exceeded that of the Stingrays, and now for the first time, the Grand Sport outproduced the Stingray for the week.
According to Roger Kiel’s C8 production tracker, last Monday shows a zero as the Assembly Plant was closed for Labor Day, and then plant operations would return on Tuesday and workers would build 196 Grand Sports to the 193 Stingrays over the next four days:
• Stingrays: 50, 51, 46, 46 = 193
• Grand Sports: 49, 49, 50, 48 = 196
Meanwhile, the Grand Sport X continues to built in decent quantities as we saw 45 come off the assembly line over the four-day week.
Will the trend for more Grand Sports continue to make inroads against the Stingray or does the base car’s value proposition of having the same LS6 V8 and center quad exhaust for thousands less the widebody’s starting MSRP of $88K enough to keep it first in C8 production?
Stay tuned!

Where can I rent a corvette for a week or two??
The quad center exhaust is a option for the Grand Sport just like it is for the Stingray. The two cars will always be a $15k difference.
Seems like novelty more than anything. The value certainly isn’t there.
