Congratulations to the members of the National Corvette Museum who made their voices heard! The National Corvette Museum has announced that David Hill has submitted his resignation as President and CEO of the organization effective immediately on Wednesday. This move comes after it was learned that Hill had closed his previous classic trucks restoration parts business very abruptly in late March, leaving many customers who had paid for parts empty handed.

Those customers were pretty vocal about their displeasure on the hiring of David Hill and began posting on the NCM’s Facebook Page to let its members know what had transpired at Mar-k. Our article on the David Hill controversy also got major traction with over 160 comments alone on the Facebook post. So we appreciate those of you who shared the article and made your voices heard!

We’re also very happy to see the Board of Directors move with lightning speed to change course, and we hope those customers of Mar-K are somehow made whole again.

The really good news to come out of this is that the NCM Board of Directors has also announced that Bryce Burklow has been appointed at President and Chief Executive Officer effective immediately! Bryce has been part of the Corvette Museum for 15 years and he served as the interim Chief Operating Officer as the national search for a new CEO was underway. Bryce was also responsible for Events and Facilities during his tenure, and he knows the operations of the museum intimately.

The National Corvette Museum sent an email to its membership on Wednesday afternoon to confirm the leadership changes. “We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition,” the message said. “The high level of interest and engagement from our Members and the Corvette community has been a powerful reminder of how much this institution means to so many.”

Moving forward, we are hoping that the Corvette Museum’s leadership on the Board of Directors takes a long, hard look at their processes for hiring major positions as well as making sure that these people are properly “vetted.” Checking our archives, they announced the national search in February 2024 and a year later this is what we are left with. I can’t image the amount of money that went into this failed hiring, and I hope that something is done with the headhunter firm in charge of the search.

Recently, the Board of Directors has taken on some new members, with Amy Masica (Chevrolet Marketing Director) and Ken Lingenfelter (Owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering) joining the board this year. Let’s hope some fresh ideas and processes come out of this debacle.

  1. I’ve been thoroughly disgusted with the operations of the NCM pretty much since Wendell Strode retired. I know this has been mentioned thousands of times in the interim by others, too, so I won’t rehash. But I will say that my wife and I haven’t been to a Museum function since the 2019 Bash event, nor have we given one red cent in donations, either, after having been regular contributors since joining in 2009. Being left off the Membership Anniversary list in the magazine for our 10th AND 15th also rubbed us the wrong way, being Lifetime and One-Acre Club members. There have been several other slights, too, both in-person and otherwise that I won’t detail here. Suffice to say that in our opinion, this outfit has totally lost its way at the top level, so I am THRILLED to see Bryce elevated to the position he SHOULD HAVE HAD ALL ALONG! Hopefully, the Museum will return (sooner rather than later) to the personable and welcoming place it used to be. If it does, we will consider re-engaging. If it continues to stumble along the same oblivious path it’s been on the last few years, then we may never return.

  2. Controversy and vetting issues aside, promoting Bryce to President and CEO is not only the right thing to do, but should have been done a couple hires back. A truly nice guy with NCM blood running through his veins. I’m sure I speak for most everyone in the Corvette community that we congratulate Bryce on his promotion and wish him great success! The Museum and the Corvette community will benefit from his leadership and personality. No need to look back and be negative about the past. Look forward and, most of all, move forward.

  3. First major mistake they made was not hiring Katie Ellison to replace Wendell. Right under there nose was their best option.

  4. But the NCM Board got it right … now … and lets all be happy they FINALLY made the right choice. Yes, why they didn’t do this from the get go, is what some of us, okay, a lot of us will ask. We waited over one year for a new NCM CEO/Pres. Should have been one day, like it was today. They had to go thru a process. Process is done, right choice made. Enuf said.

  5. Love that Katie Ellison thought, a terrific person and the Museum isn’t the same without her. That said, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Bryce via MiM and chatting with him at the museum (I’ve only been there for 4 caravans and 1 bash) – I’d say this is an outstanding selection.

  6. It’s a Corvette Museum , get out the office at least once a week talk to the customers ask them what they want to see. Thank the customers who come from all over to pick up their corvette there. In the years I worked as a delivery host only one person came now and than to talk with them and thank them that was the new plant manager. Talk with the deliver host they talk to the people every day they know what the people want to see a big one is the cars that went into the sink hole when I expressed this they told me the museum did not want to be known for that anymore give the customers what they want not what you want Stop putting pictures on display these people come from a long way to see cars not pictures or paintings. If you don’t believe me spend dime time on corvette blvd Don’t hire some outside company to tell you what your customers will tell you

  7. Bryce is definitely the best choice to lead the National Corvette Museum. Just hope those that have been staying away will return for the Bash to show their support. Look forward to seeing you!

  8. Modern day Babylon is full of liars and cheaters. Glad they found the truth early in this process.
