If you listen to our Corvette news and headline recaps on the Corvette Today Podcast, you will know that I like to refer to stories of Corvettes being sold in other markets as part of Chevrolet’s C8 World Domination plan. We’ve got another export-worthy story about Corvettes and this one comes from one of our favorite foreign markets, Japan.
Automobile buyers in Japan seem to really like special editions and it seems like every model year will see two or three special editions go on sale. From a manufacturing standpoint, it’s a lot easier to build and export 40 identical cars than 40 cars ordered individually.
Earlier this year, Chevrolet Japan unveiled two new special editions for Corvette buyers. They were called the Edition CERV 1 and the Heritage Edition and each was limited to just 20 Corvettes. Now we learned that new Special Edition is hitting the country in September and it’s called the “Red Flame” special edition.
A total of 40 Corvette Stingrays will be offered as part of the Red Flame edition and they will be split evenly between Coupes and Convertibles. Half of those will be finished in Red Mist Metallic while the other half will be offered in Carbon Flash Metallic. Both body styles will receive the Engine Appearance Packages with the Edge Red engine cover.
For those Red Flame Specials that are Red Mist, buyers will also receive full-length dual racing stripes and 5-spoke alloy wheels painted in Carbon Flash. Other options include the Bright Red brake calipers, a 3LT dipped Natural interior with GT2 seats, and the Stealth interior package.
The Carbon Flash Metallic Red Flame Specials get the 3LT dipped Adrenaline Red interior with Red/Black Competition Seats and the Stealth Interior Package. These cars will feature the 20-Spoke Midnight Gray aluminum wheels with a Red Stripe, and Bright Red Brake Calipers.
Pricing for the Red Flame special edition Coupes will have an MSRP of ¥ 17,400,000 ($108,158.57 USD) while the Convertible models will be sold for ¥ 18,900,000 ($117,482.59 USD).
Chevrolet sold 567 Corvette Stingrays and eight Z06s in 2023. The right-hand drive 2024 E-Ray was introduced last month during Chevrolet Fan Day at Fuji Speedway.

My question is, why?? Why is Chevrolet wasting time and sending these cars over there?? None of the buyers can see over the steering wheel, probably can’t reach the peddles or see out of the mirrors, wow what a waste. Plus I thought Japan had vehicle size laws and really narrow streets with limited parking. Makes no sense, isn’t Chevrolet having a hard time keeping up with orders as it is??
