In this day and age of trailer queens immediately stored while awaiting some future auction, it’s refreshing to see this 2023 Corvette Z06 – the 29th ever built – that’s already been driven a whopping 82,534 miles!
Yes, folks, that’s not a typo, and no, the doors didn’t fall off from all the overuse!
This “already road-tested” Z06, as it might be euphemistically described by some, is being offered on Autotrader for $114,900 by a Napierville, Illinois dealership named Gold Coast Motors. We checked the Carfax and found that the car hit a deer on Sept. 1, 2022, suffering minor damage to the right front at that time, but that seems to have been more than adequately repaired.
This Caffeine Metallic coupe over Natural interior is nicely equipped, too, with the middle-of-the-road 2LZ package as well as several high-dollar options like carbon ceramic brakes ($8,495), carbon aero package ($8,495), front lift ($2,595), black forged aluminum spider wheels ($495), and carbon flash metallic painted mirrors ($195).
It’s the standard powertrain that makes this car so desirable, though, as it naturally has the 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank LT6 engine that cranks out 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This one was hand-assembled by Andrew Prideaux in Bowling Green.
Checking out the photos with the listing on Auto Trader, we were pleased to see that the Natural interior seat covers and the paint appear to have held up nicely, despite the mileage. While we don’t know the mechanical history of the car, it’s great to know that the powerful new-design engine apparently has been dependable as well.
We’d also love to hear from the owner about his experiences with this Z06 and how he put so many miles on the odometer in a short time.

Wow… I estimate this at 930 miles a week – using 1 Sept 2022 to today, 22 May 2024.
Which maths out to 48,500 a year. WTF. This dude commute from Chicago and Cleveland on a daily basis? I used to live in Delaware and drove 100 miles a day (1992 Coupe) and never got that kinda mileage!!
BTW, the C4 got nearly the same highway MPG as my prior car, a 1994 Honda Prelude VTEC! Seriously. The VTEC was getting about 22mpg on that commute, whereas the LT1 was getting about 20mpg. Hm…
The 300000-series vin indicates that this was a GM CTF (Captured Test Fleet) car. Customer ordered car’ vins begin with 600001.
I still think Caffeine Metallic is one of the most interesting C8 colours to date. It pairs very well with a Natural interior, as presented here, and even better with a Natural Dipped interior (the less black the better). Then again I may not be entirely objective, given the similarity of that colour combination to a certain Milano Maroon /Saddle Tan ’66 roadster waiting patiently in the garage.
Forget it!
Price is reasonable. It’s about on par with a 0 option 1LZ 2024. And this has CCB’s and Carbon Aero. Can’t knock it.
A 2LZ with identical options (CCB’s and Carbon Aero, etc) for 2024 will sticker around 145k. At 115k, you’re getting a 30k price cut off new. Caffeine just makes it that much rarer of a Z06.
GM should buy it and perform an autopsy to see what worked or did not in that short time span.
At the end of the day, there’s no universal right mileage cutoff, each car must be judged on its own merits through a careful inspection, test drive, history report and realistic budget.
Many thanks,
Ray
I am a Chevy dealer in Corsicana, TX (Frank Kent Country). I bought this car from GM on 3/25/2024. It was one of their company cars, so not sure we will ever know the full story on the miles. We sold it at auction and now you are seeing it for the first time at retail.
