I was planning on killing some time tonight to build another Corvette on Chevy’s Build and Price configurator. Instead I find that Chevrolet has completely revamped the configurator, and now it’s called “Build and Buy.” Click here to give it a test drive!
For the most part, this appears to just be an update to the user interface. It looks good on my Desktop, but it appears to be a substantial upgrade when viewing it on my mobile device. One of the big changes we found is that several of the previous tabs have been consolidated. So now instead of Wheels having its own tab, you can find it under the Exterior. The Options tab is fairly important as that’s where you’ll find each model’s specific packages (Z51, Z07, ZER). Then you have the exterior options followed by the interior options, and finally the Mechanical options for Front Lift and Magnetic Ride Control. All these new tabs seem to have stacked options so just keep scrolling until you come to the end of that section.
The first few images of the build look great, but currently I am losing my previews on the desktop version as I get further into the customization process. However, my two builds on the mobile website rendered all the images successfully. The Corvettes appear to be very similar renderings in terms of how the cars are displayed previously against the white background, and you can cycle through the five or six views of the exterior, or three for the interior.
Once you have completed your build, you end up on Summary Screen which displays the details of your build, and then shows the inventory of available cars similar to your build at local Chevrolet dealers. You can also hit the “View Inventory” to see all matches within your geographical area.
GM is usually pretty quick at getting these kinds of things sorted out, so hopefully by the time you read this, the desktop images on the configurator are rendering properly. Just for kicks, I also tried hitting the old visualizer website, but it appears to be offline at this time.
So what do you think, Corvette Nation? Give the new “Build and Buy” configurator a try and let us know what you think about it. I think so far, I prefer the mobile version. And with this update, at least I have something new to look at while building the same E-Ray for the 100th time.

Effort that should have gone into ramping up production. Overhauling the UI doesn’t matter an iota when you still can’t get a car for 2 years.
