[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Stingray Sets New Quarter Mile World Record with a Run of 8.64 @ 170 MPH

Back in 2021 and into 2022, there was a very fun competition happening to see who could be the first to catapult their C8 Corvette Stingrays into the 8s in the quarter mile. The world record times were dropping pretty quickly during those months, and players like Extreme Turbo Systems, Emelia Hartford, FuelTech USA, and Late Model Racecraft were all-in with their different tuning setups.

Looking back at some of our coverage, here’s a quick recap of the C8 Stingray’s Race to the 8s:

The race to the 8s began back in October 2020 when Extreme Turbo Systems was the first to crack the 9-second mark. They would lose the World’s Fastest C8 Corvette title to Emelia Hartford’s C8 nicknamed Phoenix who kept improving upon her times over the next six months. Emelia’s best time of 9.39 seconds would eventually fall as a customer of Extreme Turbo Systems retook the record in August 2021 with a surprise time of 9.05 at 159 MPH.

Meanwhile, Anderson Dick and his team at FuelTech USA were in the mix as their twin-turbo Corvette was steadily improving in both power and quickness. They would retake the power record for the C8 Corvette with a 1350 whp dyno run in September 2021 before taking the record from ETS for the fastest C8 Corvette with a time of 9.01 at 153 mph. FuelTech would become the first to achieve the 8-second goal with a time of 8.973 seconds at 160 mph.

Since then, we know that Late Model Racecraft would hold the title with a time of 8.83 seconds at 160 mph in August 2022, and frankly after that we haven’t really paid as close attention to the record with the arrival of the Z06 later in the year.

The reason we took this digg through memory lane is that Extreme Turbo Systems is once again claiming the world record for a C8 Corvette Stingray in the quarter mile. Check out the “quick” video below which shows the run of 8.64 seconds at 170 MPH. The video shows the time slip, and at the very end they list all the mods that were on the car.

  1. Very quick. Says a lot about the aerodynamics of these latest Corvette’s, absolutely a race on Sunday sell on Monday’s. I have talked to a few retired guys that need the creature comforts of the late models and performance. Then they have an older model for performance of C2’s and other older models. Corvette has gone from raw sports car to a newest generation of street muscle and/or drive it on Sunday to church.

  2. Kind of a yawner. 5 years ago I was at Palm Beach International Raceway. Two Nissan turbocharged GTRs drove in (not trailered) with complete interiors and NO safety equipment. They most likely bribed the track heavily to run. There was no external evidence of any mods – except a parachute on the back of one of them. The first ran 8.2 @179 mph. The second ran 7.85 @ 185 mph. When you see drug dealer cubic money running that quick and fast, it kind of makes you think you’re wasting your time running a corvette and most anything else…
