Corvettes for Sale: 8K-Mile 1996 Corvette Grand Sport Offers on Bat at No Reserve

Corvette enthusiasts of a certain age are sometimes a little lukewarm about black wheels.

The 1996 Corvette Grand Sport certainly tried to do its part to change that way of thinking, and at least in this writer’s opinion, was very successful.

See for yourself on this very nice ’96 Grand Sport currently being auctioned off – AT NO RESERVE – on Bring a Trailer. With the sale slated to end in six days, the price has already hit $30,000.

Only 810 of these coupes (and another 190 convertibles) were built by Chevy as it pulled out all the stops to celebrate the end of the line for the C4, and this one has been driven just 8,000 miles since being picked up new at Bernard Chevrolet in Libertyville, Illinois, where it stickered for $44,544.

Besides those trend-setting black wheels, the C4 Grand Sport is notable for its slick Admiral Blue paint with a distinctive white racing stripe and twin red hash marks above the left front wheel, certainly making a strong case as being the most eye-catching C4 of them all.

This example includes the more common all black leather interior, but that’s not a problem for the owner. While only 270 of the 1,000 Grand Sports came with the optional red and black interior, the seller of this car says he prefers his black interior “as it ages better than red in my experience.”

The seller acquired this car in 2020, and maintenance performed during his stewardship includes changing the fluids and installing new radiator hoses, thermostat, belts, brake hoses, tires, and battery.

Performance wise, the Grand Sport includes a six-speed manual transmission and the one-year-only LT4 V8 engine rated at 330 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. That’s 30 horsepower more than the stock LT1.

“This is an extremely nice car,” the seller notes in comments on the listing page. “I collect Corvettes and looked for a long time for a car in top condition that I could drive. As you can see in the gallery this car is ready to drive – new tires, belts, hoses, all fluids changed. The car is in virtually perfect condition and drives great! In my opinion the admiral blue paint is stunning, especially in the sun!”
