If you’ve tried to buy or sell a mid-engine Corvette lately, the latest award for Chevy’s hot new supercar comes as no surprise to you, even if you live north of the border.

For the second year in a row, Corvette has won the Canadian Black Book’s Residual Value Award in the Sports Car Luxury category, beating out the Audi R8 and Lexus LC500 in the second annual competition this year.

The 2023 awards include 16 vehicle categories and five overall brand categories and forecast residual values in 2027, with Corvette expected to hold the most value then at a predicted 84.2 percent.

The 2023 Best Residual Value Awards measure vehicles’ values into the future, recognizing vehicles that are expected to hold the largest percentage of their MSRP 48 months after the original date of purchase.

Toyota/Lexus led the way with six category wins and 15 mentions (1st, 2nd or 3rd), including Overall Brand Award: Car and Overall Brand Award: SUV/truck.

General Motors was next with three wins and 7 mentions, including victories for the GMC Terrain in the SUV: Main Compact/Sub-Compact category and Cadillac CT5 in the Car-Luxury division.

Earlier, Corvette had been named the winner in the Premium Midsize Sports Car segment of the J.D. Power Canada 2023 ALG Residual Value Award, as well as earning the Kelley Blue Book 2023 Best Overall Resale Value Award as one of the top 10 vehicles for keeping their resale value better than 95 percent of competing vehicle models.
