Joining four other Chevrolets, the mid-engine Corvette was among the winners in the 27th annual Automotive Loyalty Awards given out this week by S&P Global Mobility.

Rated according to buying activity from January to December 2022, the Corvette ranked first in the Luxury Sports Car category to lead General Motors to its eighth straight win in the “Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer” category.

Four other Chevrolets ranked first in their divisions – the Equinox in Small Utility, Tahoe in Full-Size Utility, Silverado 2500/3500 in Heavy-Duty Pickup, and Bolt in Small Car.

The Corvette and the Bolt were repeat winners from 2021.

Tesla also rated among the winners in Manufacturer and Make Loyalty Awards, including Overall Loyalty to Make, Ethnic Market Loyalty to Make, Most Improved Make Loyalty, Highest Conquest Percentage, and Alternative Powertrain Loyalty to Make.

S&P Global Mobility based the winners on a fact-based analysis of 11.7 million new retail vehicle registrations in the U.S. during the 2022 calendar year. Loyalty is determined when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to market and acquires another new vehicle of the same make, model or manufacturer. The newly acquired vehicle may be either a replacement or an addition to the household fleet.

“The past three years have been a challenge for the automotive industry,” said Joe LaFeir, President, Automotive Insights, S&P Global Mobility. “As customers are returning back to market post pandemic and inventory levels have slowly improved from last year’s lows, retaining loyal customers has been more challenging than ever before.”
