[VIDEO] Owner of a Zero-Option 2020 Corvette with 30K Miles Offers Long Term Review

Reviews are a great way to learn all the new and fun features about the C8 Corvette, but to get the real story on what it’s like to own a mid-engine Corvette, talk to a long-term owner of the car. Or you could watch this video review from Will Rockwell on his 1LT base Coupe with exactly zero options.

Will watched the reveal of the 2020 Corvette Stingray from Tustin, CA, on 07-18-19 and immediately went to his local Chevrolet dealer and put his name on 2020. His was an early build with the VIN 3085, and his window sticker shows $0 in options, and so his total build was $58,900 plus $1,095 for shipping.

He now has 30,000 miles on the car and is sharing his thoughts about owning a 1LT base model with zero options. Is there anything he wishes he would have added to his car? Not according to Will, who says, “there is absolutely nothing on the option list that I wish I had gotten, I’ll tell your that!

“People talk about the options you can get on this car, and they say, ‘oh, this is a must-have or that’s a must-have.’ I’m here to tell you after driving this car for 30,000 miles, that there are no must-haves. This car comes with all the must-haves you need.”

For those of you considering a base model Stingray or even a Z06, that’s a great way to look at it. Check out Will’s full six-minute review below.

I took delivery of my C8 Corvette, VIN 3085 on July 2, 2020. 2 years later it has 30,000 miles on it. This is the base model, a 1LT with no options at all, it is a $59,000 car. Do I still like it? Do I wish I had loaded it up with mag ride, lift, Z51 and spoilers? How has the car held up, any mechanical issues? Stay tuned.

  1. Met a guy who had a bright silver 2020 with one option…the bright silver optional wheel style. Was a beautiful car. I like it without the spoiler. For the Z06, I like the low “stock” spoiler.

  2. Even tho he says he is a Ford GT guy he is a true Corvette aficionado, his base, no option C8 proves it. The only change I would have made is body color “Boomerangs”. Its how I would have ordered one.

  3. Loaded C8 only way to go the Z51 differance is amazing even it only included the extea 5 hp but the exhaust sound difference far worth it. Loaded C8 all options 88,000. Do it or don’t bother. If you don’t understand the difference going stripped route then so be it, who cares. It won’t really matter.

  4. I will disagree with your premise. Sometimes an option is necessary. For instance front lift was mandatory for me because of my driveway. The L2 seats felt much better than the stock seat. I really do not like the appearance of the stock wheels and if you like to take trips and put the top down you really can’t with the coupe because the back trunk is where the top is stored. One carry on suitcase for my wife and I won’t work. My HTC has both trunks available.
As for the Z51 package – “it’s a Corvette dam’ it” Mine listed for 89K and it is worth every penny.

  5. There’s no way I’d go without the options. I’ve got a 22 C8.R number 90/1000 accelerate yellow . There’s no way I could settle for less. Each option improves the feel and performance.

  6. I love my C8.R. Accelerate yellow. # 542. I’ve had mine since November and put 750 miles on it. I’m gonna order a zO6 with the z07 package as soon as they are available.
