[VIDEO] New 682-hp Escalade-V is the Corvette of Cadillac SUVs

For those that have wanted Corvette-like performance in an SUV, your rocket ship has just arrived. Our good friend Byron Glover Jr of Drive 615 just returned from an Escalade V-series Ride and Drive event with Cadillac and he has a great review in store for you!

At the heart of the Escalade-V is the C7 Z06’s supercharged LT4 which makes 682 hp and 653 lb-ft of torque. If that doesn’t grab and shake you by the lapels, wait until you hear the fantastic acceleration and then the burble and cracking of the exhaust as the rpm winds down. It’s hard to believe that sound is coming from a truck let alone something as luxurious as the Cadillac Escalade.

We see lots of Corvette-inspired handiwork at play in the Escalade-V with the unique aerodynamic front splitter helping to direct air to the engine while the Stingray-inspired tailpipes assist with the exit. Even the V-series menus on the infotainment center are similar to the setting we use to set up the Corvette’s Z-Mode.

There is one thing the Corvette can’t match and that’s the Escalade’s 7,000 lb towing capacity so you can take your boat or Corvette with you on vacation. (What? She’d be lonely if I left her at home). So for those looking for something to haul around the family in or you need the storage and towing you can only get with a large SUV, well, you might as well get the Corvette of Cadillac SUVs.

From Drive 615 via YouTube:

First drive and exclusive 4K review of the all new 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V. Thank you to Cadillac for this incredible opportunity. Watch as I put this 682 HP SUV through its paces in the 109 degree Arizona heat! I am in the ESV model for this review (filmed in 4K) which does 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds as a result of its massive 6.2L Supercharged V8 engine.

The Escalade V is the industry’s most powerful full-size SUV and has a 6.2L Supercharged V8 similar to the one in the CT5-V Blackwing I just finished reviewing.

  1. Way to go Cadillac, this is at the same time Jeep has cancelled the Trackhawk and doesn’t appear to be coming out with the re-designed SRT. Glad to see GM is putting fun back into an SUV.
