As a member of the Black and Silver Midyear club, I can tell you just how rare it is to see an original Tuxedo Black Sting Ray with the Silver interior out in the wild. My friend Tom has a ’64 with the color combo, and I see him once a year at Carlisle. Otherwise, about the only other arena where you might see a Black/Silver C2 is at one of the national auction events.

Making this C2 Corvette even more desirable is the L84 327 cubic-inch fuel-injection motor which Chevrolet rated at 375 horsepower. Zora personally worked on getting the fuel-injected system on the 1957 Corvettes, and by the C2 era, the units were more efficient and better looking than the C1 FI units, but they were still more expensive than the carbureted engines. Only 1,325 fuelies would be produced during the C2’s sophomore year. This Black Convertible option list includes a four-speed manual transmission with positraction, cast aluminum knock-off wheels, a white convertible top, and an AM/FM radio. An Auxiliary hardtop is also included.


This 1964 Corvette Convertible was born on April 16, 1964, and was special ordered for a customer in Southern California. Following a frame-off restoration, the Sting Ray fuelie has won the distinguished National Corvette Restorers Society “Duntov Mark of Excellence” Award and scored “Top Flight” status twice.
