The new mid-engine Corvette Stingray continues to take the market by storm, ranking No. 11 on the latest list of new vehicles that are priced the highest over MSRP.

According to the recent iSeeCars.com study, the Stingray is selling for 19.3 percent over MSRP, or some $15,218 more.

New Study Shows the Chevrolet Corvette Sales Average 19.3 Percent over MSRP

“Demand for the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette has exceeded supply since its launch for the 2020 model year, and its high demand contributes to the vehicle consistently selling over MSRP,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.

The latest rankings are dominated by Jeeps, including the No. 1 Wrangler at 26.7 percent over MSRP (or $8,925), No. 4 Wrangler Unlimited (22.9 percent or $9,535), and No. 5 Gladiator (22.5 percent or $9,824).

iSeeCars analyzed more than 1.2 million new cars listed for sale between February 1 and March 25, 2022, and compared their list price to their MSRP. The average difference was expressed as a percentage from MSRP and used to rank models. Low-volume models and heavy-duty vehicles were excluded from further analysis.

“New car buyers will probably have trouble finding available inventory and can expect to pay higher-than-average prices for vehicles that are in high demand,” Brauer said. “New car shortages are expected to persist due to the backlog of demand, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict has led to factory shutdown and pricing increases on raw materials. The best way to avoid paying over sticker is to broaden your search radius and to consider similar vehicles that may not have the same degree of price hike.”

  1. Hmmmm “analyzed cars listed for sale” Not cars actually sold. Totally irrelevant and worthless information completed by who? “ISeeCars”!!!!!

  2. They can go F–k them selves No on should pay over list for any car!
Probably those rich yuppies that never own a Vette in their lives and have no clue
about Corvette culture just love my 3rd one 2019 GS. There will be no C8 for me!!

  3. People love capitalism. Don’t complain when supply and demand push the price the other way. A recession has a way to flush this stuff out.

  4. Useless article typical today. Posted online means nothing. Transaction prices are not that high on average.

  5. You can buy one at MSRP. Do your research. You just have to wait about 10 months. No big deal. If you have to have one right now off the lot then yes good luck.

  6. Lots of American companies are viewing this high-demand economy as a golden opportunity. So does Home Depot care they only have 53 employees at Store #316 instead of 72? Maybe not. If the customers are the same, they are making more money. It may be more difficult to locate an orange dude, but that is the price of a high demand system. I agree with Rob – a recession may be needed to create some useful demand destruction that would actually be healthier in the long run for the consumer.
