[VIDEO] More C8 Corvette Goodness from Top Gear

At the end of last year we had a story about the U.K.’s Top Gear reviewing the C8 Corvette Stingray for the show and while we were let down by that particular outcome, we can still appreciate the driving sequences with host Freddy Flintoff who puts the car through its paces on a typical rainy day.

While the original video we shared in the post was pulled from YouTube over BBC copyright issues, Top Gear has offered us another look at Freddie driving the 2022 Torch Red RHD Coupe at the Top Gear course and borrowing a word from Freddy, it’s “brilliant!”

As with any Top Gear driving sequence, the visuals of the Corvette Stingray being thrashed around the track are fantastic as the roar of the 495-hp LT2 V8 and squealing tires add to Freddie’s positive commentary on the car. His only real issue with the car is the cost. Our starting MSRP of $60,000 is roughly the equivalent of £45,000 GBP, but Chevy is selling the cars in the U.K. starting at £75K GBP and the one he is testing is closer to £85,000 GBP. But Freddie agrees that even at that price, it’s still “a total bargain.” He adds, “Nothing else you can buy in the U.K. right now gives you this much performance for your pound…this much car for your cash…pound for pound for fun this is right up there.”

From Top Gear via YouTube:

An all-American sports car dressed up like a European supercar – but how does the Chevrolet Corvette compare on the track? Freddie Flintoff pushes Chevy’s latest ‘Vette to maximum speed – 184mph in this case with 480bhp and a 6.2-litre V8 engine behind the driver. This is one quick car but does it come close to supercar performance – and what about the burning question: how does it handle corners?

  1. I take slight offense at him saying the Corvette never handled. Maybe he never drove a Corvette until now. Compared to the competition, from 1953 onwards, the Vette has always been in the mix, if not leading the pack around corners. Welcome to reality Freddy.

  2. Why does the UK get a lower powered version?? Probably don’t want that jack ass Clarkson to hurt himself.

  3. Corvette’s don’t handle, really. What car in the last decade or more from the UK comes even close?? I think the Brits should shut their pie hole.
