Corvettes for Sale: Frame-Off Restored 1964 Corvette at ACC Auctions

If you missed out on buying a brand new 1964 Corvette straight off the showroom floor back in the day, don’t give up.

You can still make up for all that lost time with this ’64 Sting Ray that is actually better than new in many ways after just undergoing a total frame-off restoration.

It’s now being offered at allcollectorcars.com, where the current bid has climbed to $50,000 with two days left in the auction.

There are so many bright spots about this car that it’s hard to know where to begin.

But let’s go with the original numbers-matching 327/250 horsepower V8 engine that’s been machined, fitted with internals, and even includes the correct “30-30” mechanical lifter camshaft to replicate the much more powerful L76 327/365 option. Correct, stock-type manifolds connected to factory-style chambered exhausts carry wastes through tailpipes that exit below the rear bumper. The numbers-matching Muncie four-speed manual transmission and Posi-traction rear end have been refurbished, along with the suspension system and the factory four-wheel power drum brakes.

We love the classic look of the American Racing Torque Thrust wheels that have been installed inside BFGoodrich Radial T/A 215/70/15 white letter tires and simply can’t stop admiring the photos of this gorgeous C2 beauty.

Of course, the restoration originally started with the removal of the body to allow the frame to be media blasted and then painted in the correct shade of semi-gloss black. The body, by the way, was undergoing hours and hours of prep work in anticipation of a shiny new paint job in Silver-Blue.

Inside, the perfection continues as well, where even the factory clock in the center of the dash still functions – quite an anomaly these days. The wood steering wheel, factory shifter, center console, and OEM AM/FM radio belie their age, and the seats and door panels have been redone in the factory trim code “490-B” blue vinyl with new blue carpet everywhere, making this a cockpit a new owner will want to spend hours inside.

The 22,229 Corvettes built for 1964 are sometimes overlooked in all the hoopla over the ’63 split window coupe and the ’65 that included improvements like four-wheel disc brakes and the first big-block engine.

But this totally restored ’64, in our opinion, doesn’t show any signs of a sophomore jinx whatsoever and is ready for a new owner to enjoy.

  1. Beautiful car, should sell. Always loved the C2s looks, probably the best generation for styling innovation.
