The 2022 Corvette Stingray officially went on sale this fall in the United Kingdom and it’s the first time that a right hand drive Corvette has been offered for sale. So what do they think about the car now?
Our first clue comes from this full segment on the RHD 2022 Corvette from Top Gear with reviewer Freddie Flintoff thoroughly thrashing the American sports car around a very wet Top Gear test track.
“There is nothing else you can buy in the UK right now that will give you this much performance for your pound,” said Freddie as he was hotlapping the car on the wet track. That seems pretty definitive, right?
We even watched as the Stig put down a fast lap of 1:21.7 for the Power Lap Times board.
But this is Top Gear and while Jeremy Clarkson is no longer around to torment Corvette enthusiasts (at least he was funny), the three hosts still find a way during the show’s studio portion to not give the car its proper due. One of the hosts doesn’t appear to know the difference between a muscle car and a sports car, while Freddie says he would pick his LHD Camaro over the RHD Corvette every time.
It’s no wonder we fought for our Independence 245 years ago…

Why are all British track tests in the rain ?!?
They have always shat on the Corvette. I did a track day at Bowling green, this car was amazing! My only complaint was the numb feeling from the steering. However, I can’t blame the vette as I have a loss of feeling in my extremities. It was stupid fast and handled like a dream. I just wished it was more bonkers & less GT.
So, C8 Z06, here I come.

Ya these guys are idiots and yes Clarkson is one too. Can’t and don’t watch this show much anymore. Kinda funny, they all trash American cars because they don’t “turn”. Lol, so just what the hell do these jack holes make that is even close???? Corvettes have handed these douche bags their asses on the track for years. Didn’t even bother to watch the vid.
Well, Kevin, there is the Aston Martin for those who can afford it. Glad they have that, actually, because it keeps LeMans competitive. Seems like the video was pretty complimentary. I think this is just the way British humor works. He was beating himself up with loving the Camaro because he didn’t want to believe there is something better– yet he knows he’s wrong!
Maybe Chevy shouldn’t export the C8 there since they don’t appreciate it
I honestly love the sibling riveralry and this is merely an extension of it. We “yanks” gave these pub dwellers a lesson on torque for God knows how many years, and we have learned a lot from their sense of finesse. They’ll never admit defeat and I truly hope they come back with a true challenger. That said the new corvette stomps and good luck chasing that.
