[VIDEO] Top Gear Magazine Gets Up Close and Personal With Two 2023 Corvette Z06s

Our never-ending search for new C8 Z06 content turned up a new video from across the pond this week. Top Gear, the magazine behind the “plucky motoring show on BBC 2,” sent one of their guys to L.A. for an exclusive look at the two most famous examples of C8 Z06 in existence, and they even humored the local audience by using the proper “Zee” pronunciation for the hi-performance model designation.

The traveling TG personality starts by looking at the “dad spec” Z06 “coupé” that we all spent an embarrassing amount of time pouring over when it was introduced to the world as the first ever uncamouflaged Z, via Instagram. The highlights of this segment are some brief, but excellent LT6 revs and an up-close look at the gorgeous new full-dipped Adrenaline Red interior; we can’t get enough of those red threads! He also demonstrates the ease of solo storing the roof panel behind the engine before finally turning his attention to the Amplify Orange drop-top Z07 “RS” version that starred in the glorious reveal video.

The orange car is so beautiful that we were tempted to give this video an NSFW rating from the 4:58 (coincidence?) mark on. This finale includes closeups of the wing and carbon wheels, along with some excellent implementations of Chevrolet B-roll action shots! A lot of information and 911 GT3 comparison notes are also shared during the final third of the video. The best of these is the British power-to-weight ratios of the two cars. The hottest 911 checks in at 360 horses per tonne, while the Z06 ups the ante all the way to 429 “bhp per tonne.”

Finally, he focuses on price and some RHD specifics for his home-town viewers before echoing what the entire automotive world finds so alluring about GM’s new super car by saying, “it is somehow fitting that America, a country that has always moved to a V8 rumble, is producing something so magnificent as the sun goes down [on pure, NA performance cars], rumor has it that a … hybrid Corvette is coming, but it is the Z06 that promises the most and deserves to be the one that we remember!”

Enjoy this one, Corvette Nation, we know that we did!

  1. David Wallis must be living in a cave. You want proof the Eray is coming? Look in the current Stingray Owners Manual where they show the Master Fuse Block layout & describe what each one is for. Surprise! One fuse is for the Lithium Ion/Ultium battery and another is for the phony engine noise to warn blind folks the car is nearby. In short, the built-in electrical circuitry for the Eray is already there! So is the front wheel drive power axle pass-thru in the front control arms. It’s just a matter of time, but the Eray IS coming. It ain’t no false rumor. Can’t wait.

  2. Im glad that TG didnt shat on the Z06! Jeremy from OG TG HATED the vette. So, this bloke is much welcomed.
Dave Wallis is just a fool. Leave him alone with his crayons and diapers.

  3. Vette lover Jeremy from og TG loved the corvette so much that he bought and owned a C6 corvette.
