Each day we are getting closer to the arrival of the 2023 Corvette model year. Whether or not ordering for the Z06 will open for the 2023 model year’s first order cycle at the end of the month still remains to be seen. We keep hearing the term “Summer Availability” for when we should expect the first customer cars and that could mean anything from Mid-June to Mid-September. Next week will be very busy with the 2023 guide and prices dropping, and if we initially see they are only for the Stingray, then that will be a major indicator that the 2023 Z06s will start up sometime after the Stingray begins. As always, stay tuned!

The real reason you are probably here today is this Torch Red 2023 Corvette Z06. The prototype was sighted by a Corvette Forum member named “jbsblownc5” who has previously captured other C8 Corvette prototypes in his hometown of Idyllwild CA which is up in the canyons and mountains outside of Palm Springs, CA. And while he calls his sighting “no big deal,” we think every sighting at this point is exciting and we thank JB for his post. Here’s what he says:

OK, OK, I get it, this is not that big a deal with the car being revealed already, and I certainly know the CF is a tough crowd on a good day, but I was still pretty excited to see a C8 Z06 roll into my small mountain town. There are some really decent canyon roads, with nice elevation changes that obviously make for a good testing ground for Chevy to do some real world driving. I’ve actually caught up with the base model C8 being tested under camo a few years back in my supercharged C5, and shot some video, and then a year ago got another tip a group was headed thru town again, and was able to catch them with my modded C7 Z06, it is the second video for those that have not seen it.

The first video is one of a few short clips I grabbed with my Iphone, also took a bunch of pics. When I caught up with this guy, he said he was the GM suspension engineer, and was downloading data from the car onto his laptop. I just thought it was pretty cool that GM is custom tuning the suspension for my upcoming new Z on my own favorite canyon roads LOL!! Now let’s just hope the gas prices cool off before delivery…

Torch Red is a really great exterior color for the Z06 and this one shows the Z07 Performance Package with the front dive planes and rear carbon fiber high wing. For those that like the full-length racing stripes, here is a great look at them on the new car.

The really good news here is that JB actually spoke with the engineer who told him they are still validating aspects of the car. Hopefully, this trip will be the final word on validation and they can start building Captured Test Fleet (CTF) cars for the team.
