If an untouched, big block C3 Corvette is on your wish list, a seller in Orlando may have something worth a closer look. This 1973 Corvette, showing a documented 53,000 miles, is being advertised as “extremely original,” and the photos in the Craigslist listing make a strong first impression.

The car wears a single repaint in its factory Code 914 Silver, and the finish looks sharp. The black leather deluxe interior is said to be original, and its condition appears to support the mileage claim. Even the underside — including the spare tire carrier and mufflers — looks remarkably clean. As reader Henry Davis noted, the rear luggage rack isn’t just for show: “Not only looks good, but since it doesn’t have a trunk… useful!”

Under the hood sits the real draw: a numbers matching LS4 454/275 hp V8 paired with a four speed manual transmission. The seller says the car is in “excellent mechanical condition,” riding on BFGoodrich Radial T/As with fewer than 500 miles on them. For a ’73, that combination of originality and big block power is getting harder to find.

Of course, styling opinions vary. Reader Joe didn’t hold back, saying, “Great looking car, as long as you don’t look at it from the front. 1963–1972, best looking Corvettes.” But others pushed back. Chevy Guy countered, “Gotta disagree with you there, Joe… ’73 was always my favorite C3… This one would be sweet with the big block and 4 speed.”

The 1973 model year has always stood apart. It’s the only Corvette to combine a chrome rear bumper with a polyurethane front bumper, a one year blend that designer Larry Shinoda famously called his favorite C3. With originality intact and a big block under the hood, this Orlando example captures that unique moment in Corvette history.

At $42,500, it’s priced like a car that knows its value — and judging by the reactions, it’s already turning heads.

  1. Nice car, but the 454 is pretty much just added weight. Also, it’s a ton of spendin’ money for a ’73. I’m feelin’ something around 30 to 33.
Be that as it may, best of luck to the seller.l

  2. I loved my first Corvette!! It was a 1981, White Auto Trans with the L-81. When I was offered the chance to get a 1998 C-5 in 2015 that had 48K I jumped at it. I now love two body styles!
