For the last two weeks, my daily routine has including going to Chevrolet.com and seeing if the new Build and Buy Configurators for the 2027 Corvette model year are up. Today we saw a bit of progress as there is now a configurator for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, but unfortunately it’s lacking prices. Chevrolet says, “See dealer for pricing,” but our dealer jokingly told us they don’t have it either. So, what’s going on?
I haven’t confirmed it with anyone at Chevrolet but based on previous issues like this with the configurator, it’s my belief that Chevrolet needs to wait for the official fuel economy numbers to be released by the Environmental Protection Agency’s FuelEconomy.gov website before those cars can officially be priced. We’ve seen that with other models whose prices would be impacted by a gas guzzler tax, but we don’t think that will apply to the Grand Sport’s new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 after seeing the official Canadian fuel economy figures which came out on Monday.
Not having any prices really takes the fun out of writing about the new configurator, where we usually try to build a car loaded with options just to see how high of a price we can go. And at first glance, it’s also missing some photos of the new options and for those items it just shows the Chevy bowtie logo instead. But at least prospective buyers can still build a car and generate a list of equipment that can entered by the dealer for the next order cycle.
Despite our dealer joking about not having pricing either, they actually do have it as pricing for all 2027 Corvettes was released back in April. As a reminder, the 1LT Coupe starts at $88,495 which includes the Delivery Freight Charge (DFC) of $2,495, while the 1LZ Convertible begins at $95,495 with DFC. You can find our earlier blog posts about 2027 Corvette Prices here and here.
Just for kicks, I built a heritage-style Grand Sport in Admiral Blue with the White Racing Stripe, Red Hash Marks, and a Dipped Red Interior so that it looks just like those first special editions from 1996. My first issue came with the Seat Belt. The dipped Adrenaline Red interior appears to include the Bright Red Seat Belts, and when I tried to change that to either Blue or Black, it reverted back to the base black interior.
Once in the Options section, I picked the Chrome badges which are mandatory for me, as is the Front Lift and the dealer-installed grille screens. When finished, the summary shows me this really nice list of options along with the included message to see my dealer for pricing.
Once we get pricing, I have the other CorvetteBloggers all submit their Grand Sport blogger builds so we can have a complete discussion and not have to pull out a PDF price list and a pencil to complete.
I do apologize for the negative tone here, but this is no way to sell a dream car…

GM is irking their best customers including me.
Why just the Grand Sport? This is annoying…The Stingray should already be up as a continuing model.
100% agree with the tone. The parties responsible for not delivering this weeks ago with pricing and start of ordering should be axed. There is no excuse except for a lack of planning or consideration for their customers that we are just now getting a half baked version.

You nailed it, Keith.
Wow you would think that GM hadn’t done this before. Is this their first Rodeo? They should have the Build and Price tool up weeks before the first order cycle.
Thanks,
Lee
Build that hype to justify ADM.
To be fair, Keith, GM hasn’t been great at selling “dream car” since at least the beginning of the C8 and probably much further back. OPUD for every debut year, with many delays and other issues.
AWD in particular has been flubbed for 4 consecutive years–and 2027 is no different. Any issues with other C8’s in the lineup seems par for the course and relatively small potatoes compared to the ongoing mishandling of AWD variants.
The Corvette team is a dream team. However, unfortunately, they are still under the mercies of the marketing nightmare team.
It makes it more challenging and keeps us true fans on our toes!
Stop 🛑 wanking!!!
If dodge or ford had a supercar for the same price you bet your ass they would have the configuration up and running. They are the only show in town so they could give a shit.
