Chevrolet has sent the latest Corvette Consensus Updates to dealers who also received new allocation numbers for September. We received this update from Ron Shinault who sells Corvettes for Weber Chevrolet.

As we’ve discussed, Chevrolet has been prioritizing Corvette production and this week the Corvette Assembly Plant is one of only four U.S. production facilities that wasn’t shut down due to the shortage of semiconductor chips. This week will mark the 14th consecutive week that the plant has been operating since its last part-related shutdowns in late May and early June.

We learned yesterday from a Corvette team member that the 2022 model year officially started production on Wednesday, September 8th.

Ron also tells us that the memo states that Corvette allocations are moving to 100% ADS now that the 2022s have started. We are still unsure how this move will effectively reduce the number of dealers who are selling over MSRP if customers continue to snap up any available C8 Corvette no matter what the markup may be. You also have delays in how fast the Corvette Museum’s R8C delivery program can get cars into the hands of customers. Are dealers who sell at MSRP going to be penalized for those deliveries that can take place weeks after the car was built and shipped? We are taking the wait-and-see approach to see if ADM changes dealer market adjustments in the future.

Small dealers who failed to receive a 2021 Corvette allocation are being rewarded with a 2022 allocation. We learned about that last month as Chevy first started the 2022 allocation process. The largest dealers haven’t received anywhere close to the expected numbers during the first three order cycles for 2022, but we learned today that the big three Corvette dealers (Ciocca, MacMulkin, Criswell) saw substantially more allocations this morning than was previously provided over the last month combined. So that’s very good news to share!

GM also provided dealers with an initial order summary which shows a breakdown of the first 2022 Corvette orders. Those highlights include:

  • Convertibles make up 46% of production
  • Top trim packages for the coupe and convertible models is the 3LT
  • The Z51 Performance Package is on 71% of orders
  • E60 Front Lift has been selected by 63% of buyers
  • The IMSA GTLM C8R Special Edition orders stand at 412 of 1,000 planned

Here is a the video update from Ron Shinault who does a great job in offering up this latest dealer concensus update from Chevrolet:

  1. Recently stuck my toe in the water on a new C8. The same BS lying by all the dealers in my area including one who has dealers in the top ten. Sales people are terrible. Even the sales managers are full of s. “Yea order one from us and we can get it in 6-12 weeks”. He probably was setting me up on a ordered car just to pay well over MSRP. Supply and demand on their side for a while more. Meanwhile I still will enjoy my M7 front engine C7 Grand Sport while waiting for the insanity to end.

  2. Visiting wife’s hometown in NW Ohio and debated going into the local Chevy store. Finally went in on the basis of this article. Asked about allocations and the sales manager said “yeah, we have one, I was about to order it, do you want it?”. We chatted for a bit, then slept on it. Next day, 8/18 we went back wrote a check for the deposit got our order entered and a copy of it with the order number. 8/19 sales manager calls asking if we were sure so he could submit it to Chevrolet, we said sure and he waits a second and says your order is accepted with no constraints. Then he says we have to know by following Tuesday if you have any changes. Monday we let him know we were good to go. I checked with Concierge on 8/25 and was told our order was accepted by Production Control (3000). We’ve been on a local wait list and one of the big east coast stores list since March. We still don’t believe it. As of today, order is at 3300. Our car will probably be produced in the next 3-4 weeks. Our dealer said their next allocation would probably be in the spring. On our drive back to Texas we noticed every small Chevrolet dealer wondering if they were sitting on an allocation that might never result in a car. That’s our story so far and it’s crazy…now, about that C8 loan.
