Questions About Your 2020 Corvette Order? Call the Corvette Concierge!

Nearly every day now we receive emails from those with an order on a 2020 Corvette Stingray and they ask if we know any information that can help them understand what is happening with their order, as well as when might they receive their new Corvette. My usual response is to say that if your Order Status is at 3000, you are most likely getting a 2020 Corvette, so hang tight. But then I get the inevitable reply that the buyer has no idea what their order status code is.

With all that is going on with the production of the new Corvettes over the last few months, there has been one source that Corvette buyers can turn to for the latest updates on their Corvette order. Over the last few weeks, we’ve received emails from buyers who contacted the Corvette Concierge service about their orders and the reviews we’ve been getting about their responses have been very positive.

Last week I received a follow-up email from a 2020 Corvette buyer who had asked if he could make changes to his 2020 order. “Probably not” was my reply but after he called the Corvette Concierge service, they were able to work with the dealership to make a couple of changes to the customer’s existing order. While we don’t need a bunch of Corvette buyers calling to make wholesale changes to their orders, it’s nice to know that the Concierge went to bat for this customer and got the order change done.

As for providing oversite to the Concierge service, Corvette Product and Marketing Manager Harlan Charles reviews the daily call sheets from the Corvette Concierge team members who work out of GM’s Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. The call sheets show the questions asked and how they were answered, and he can quickly jump in if he finds that the wrong information is being passed along to the buyer.

You can reach the Corvette Concierge in the USA between 9am and 9pm Monday through Friday by calling 1-866-424-3892 (In Canada, you can reach the Canadian Corvette Concierge at 1-800-263-3777). Have your order number handy and any pertinent details, and the Corvette Concierge can answer a number of questions you might have.

  1. I have had a few correspondences with the concierge and have received both prompt and professional responses. I also have to say I am getting a little frustrated because it has been almost a year for me since my deposit on the C8. I would prefer to have an online site where I could check on my status and also have the option to leave a comment. Again, I completely understand the delays but would like to see a better way for me to communicate to GM or my dealer without having to keep writing emails or calling.

  2. When you call your concierge at 3000 status they will tell you your order has been accepted by production and the status has not changed but you can check back in a Couple of weeks and we might have new information on your order. Maybe I should just record the call and play it back every two weeks. The blog is more helpful when you tell me how many cars they build since May 26, 2020 and when the Convertibles are scheduled to start production because my order got to Corvette on 16 August 2019 before the Convertible was even shown and orders were taken. The only sinking feeling I get is that they may be pushing higher priced builds to the front of the line and I am waiting on a base 2LT and didn’t try to bribe them with a Z51 package or a Corvette Museum Delivery. My car is coming to me at a Local Dealer!

  3. Ditto what Joe said. I’ve been waiting since early March 2019. Ordered a color and interior that was supposed to be early production. Still no car. Was at 3100 in early February then kicked back to 3000 in mid March. It’s a joke . Especially when there are so many online for sale already.
Concierge is a waste of time, just read the script and say try back in 2 weeks.

  4. To Joe Riefer: there is a person at your local dealership in charge of ordering all their vehicles from Chevrolet. Find out who that is and ask him/her. The dealership is the first to know what the status of their orders is. They can query Chevy’s online system anytime and get updates. That is who you should be talking to. On the other hand, your dealer may have limited allocation for Corvettes. First question you should ask: has the order been submitted to, and accepted by, Chevrolet? If not, why not? If yes, what is the order status code? Good luck.

  5. As a 1000 order status since January (with the 2nd largest dealer in the country), I’m thinking I will request a return of my deposit. Was originally told I’d get the car by late summer. Now feels another yr away. C4 and C6 owner here, but this feels like Waiting for Godot.

  6. Been at status 3000 since Feb 2020. I get the same BS response from CC. It is a terrible system that provides no information. I just know I am going to end up with a 2020 right before the 2021s come out. This sucks.

  7. WR how could you of ordered a C8 convertible in 2019, when the dealers didn’t start taking orders until mid January 2020? If the dealer put your name on a list in 2019 that was just a pre allocation list.
I put my money down in August and the last I heard I was sitting at 3000 with no news about moving up.

  8. I did find quite a bit about my initial order of Jan 22, 2020 from the Corvette Concierge. My salesman was worthless and never provided me information. I really did not want any other car than a C8 Corvette as I’m still in love with my racing yellow Porsche std. Carrera 991 from 2012, which was paid off within about 2 years. I wasn’t planning on any other sports cars ever. Then the information just kept coming until I was blown over the top with an order. Just in case, I continually monitored the Internet for c8 cars that were for sale on Amazon, E-Bay and by dealers. Then a 04/12/2020, late on one of the car sites, 18 Corvettes show up at 9:30 at night PDST. I examined all 18 many from different dealers around the five counties area of Los Angeles. Car #17 of those 18 caught my eye; drove to see it briefly just after making contact with Rydell Chevy. Liked what I saw. Drove home and received call from a manger who then hooked me up with sales and before noon I was at the sister dealership in San Fernando, Rydell Dodge to where the car had been moved from Rydell Chevy/Northridge. Saw the car; asked to buy it; started filling out paper work and closed the deal on the 13th (technically signed one last paper on the 14, but the 13th was listed as the sale date. Delivery not taken until the afternoon of the 14th. There’ve been a couple of problems with the car but nothing at all major. After the installation of a new battery, the car’s been driving great and I’m glad I made this acquisition. (I actually got hosed on a bunch of crap I didn’t need, but I was so intent on buying the car, I didn’t insist on the salesman and the finance person telling me what was each of the items I was signing. Completing the deal, I then focused my attention to getting my deposit back on the 2020 C8 Convertible I ordered. The car is quite a car with 3LT/Z51/MagRide and Blade Silver Metallic paint, Black upholstry with Sky Cool Gray seat two tones. As ordered, sticker is over 95K. Long story short, I got my 5K back. With a little over 700 miles on the C8, it is driving better and better every day and I am not sorry I bought it, at all. I’ve had some great Mercedes-Benz; Porsche, BMW, but the Corvette, to me, is the best car overall that I have ever bought with the only car coming at all close being my 2012 Carrera 991 which nips at the heals of the Corvette and is a joy to drive, comfortable and luxurious. However, the C8 is the best and the potential of the C8 to be a lot more any time I want to invest in it is almost limitless. I can turn it into my own Z06 anytime I want to commit the money to it. In the meantime it remains bone stock. I should take the Fellows driving school before doing anything else to the car. AF

  9. I placed my initial deposit back in August of 2019 in September I was invited to thee reveal at Hendricks Chevrolet in Duluth. I them finalized my order on that day and paid more deposit. I was given a build date of the second week of April, the plant was shut down the last week of March, I am still waiting on my updated build date I have emailed the Concierge twice because the recording instructs you to do so but have not heard anything and I know my dealer has not heard anything. Mine was ordered with the carbon fiber all over the outside but then I was notified that it was being pulled because the contractor could not supply because it was in such demand. I also ordered with the high wing and so far have not been notified that I will not get that. I am already looking at after market carbon fiber aesthetics. I figured after a couple of weeks or more mine would be built because it was so close when the plant shut down, I wish someone could update me on my build? Order#XJCTF8. Thanks ahead of time if someone reads this and can help. Jack

  10. Thanks for the information regarding the order status of the 2020 Corvette. I called the concierge today June 16, and had a conversation with a representative. I placed my order back in August of 2019 for a 2020 1LT with some options. The representative told me my order status was still 1100 which is the same as it was at the beginning back in August last year. Very frustrating indeed. I ordered the Corvette from a Chevrolet dealer in Marysville Wa. I have purchased three new Corvettes from them in the past, a 1990,2004, and 2007 plus referred other Corvette buyers to them. At this point I have no idea when I will ever get this c-8.

  11. There is supposed to be “guidance” issued from Chevrolet to dealers in the next few weeks about what do to with 2020 Corvette buyers who are stuck at Status 1100. I would say hang in there and let the system work itself out. I believe those at 1100 will get the first shot at 2021s but we’ll have to wait and see what they say.

The 2021 Order Guide is expected out on July 13th and orders should start not too much longer.

  12. I got tired of waiting. After 9 months and having to escalate the matter direction to GM and then being told “your order has been accepted for production but we don’t know when it will be built”, the next day I contacted the dealer, cancelled my order, and got my deposit back. I had 2 main concerns:

    1) if the dealer and Chevrolet are this difficult to get cooperation/information from *AFTER THEY HAVE MY MONEY*, the ownership experience will be the same or worse

    2) I do not want a 1-year-old ‘new’ car

During my phone call to Chevrolet, I explicitly mentioned the news that “some 2020 orders will be 2021 models” – and the person I spoke with at Chevrolet (not the dealer, I escalated the matter directly to the manufacturer, to Chevrolet) – that person said “I have no information about that.”

    They seem
    1) very disorganized
    2) chip on their shoulder along the lines of “we have a new vehicle people want”

Bad attitude. They lost a buyer. I will not be ordering from Chevrolet or GM again.

I think they may have a “self sabotage” team working inside the manufacturer to purposely alienate their customers. It’s a bit hard to understand why, because right now, very few people are buying cars.
