~Since 2020 is a Leap Year my "Guess" is that Feb 29th is when the C8’s will start rolling away from the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY. It seems that everyone wants me to "Guess" as to when their allocation will come up or when their C8 will be built so I may as well throw a "guess " out there as to when the first C8 truckloads exit Bowling Green and on to the highways of America. I can’t impress everyone enough that this process has literally just begun, and that the C8 is so well worth the wait. Now comes the rumor mill on all things considered "Future Corvette", higher horsepower as I call it as there is no telling what it will be called… a Z06, ZR1 or Zora for that matter. Speaking of Zora Duntov, I spent some time with him between the Summers of 1978 and 1990 at all the Malcolm Konner Corvette shows and his stock response was "Rumors sell magazines, not cars!"
~Great news out of Bowling Green this week…Public Corvette Plant Tours to resume Spring 2020. I was fortunate enough to take a tour of the Corvette plant in April 2019 and the new paint facility and the process is state of the art amazing!
Great quote from Dec 2019 Car and Driver…"Make no mistake. If you want to haul ass down a writhing piece of asphalt, this car (C8) will do it at astounding velocities" R Ceppos.
~Get ready for the C8 to be on every car magazine cover!
But the 2nd to the last car? That Corvette will call the National Corvette Museum home. The car is the last Stingray to be built and was purchased by Museum Lifetime Member and supporter Ivan Schrodt. Ivan will take delivery of the Corvette next Wednesday, November 20 at 2pm CT, and will then hand the keys over to the Museum in a ceremony on Corvette Boulevard.
The Bowling Green plant will now be shut down for retooling. C8 production is scheduled to begin February 3rd, 2020
~Tim T. of Glen Burnie, Maryland heard of me through The Youtuber Streetspeed 717 as Mike had bought his Corvettes from me in the past and I even got him a ride in the Callaway Aerowagen and my 67 Corvette. Tim made a Noon appt with me yesterday and he narrowed it down to a few different Corvettes. The winning combo is this stunning Sebring Orange Metallic 2019 Stingray Corvette Z51 coupe and he traded in his 2019 BMW M240iX. This is Tim’s very first Corvette and it will be his everyday driver. Equipment list: 7spd manual transmission, Satin black full-length dual stripes, cf badge pkg, black motorsports aluminum wheels, cf painted spoiler and mirrors, navigation/PDR and 2Lt pkg. Beautiful day for a Corvette ride!
~Email from Jim A. _"Good morning Mike, I just want to thank you for the pics and video of yesterday’s delivery of my new Vette. You captured the story of Jim Warren and Barbara recommending I contact you for my purchase perfectly. The end of the video was wonderful, giving Criswell recognition and the American flag! Plus you were great to work with through the entire process!! Yesterday was an exciting day for me!" Thanks much, Jim A. of Silver Spring, MD
