I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for ’97 Corvettes.
My family and I attended the unveiling of the fifth-generation car at the National Corvette Museum way back in January of ’97, and then four years later I was finally able to afford a slightly used Torch Red example – a car that I ended up owning twice after selling it to a friend and then buying it back again a few years later.
Leading up to last weekend’s IMSA race at Road America, the only Cacti Green E-Ray we’ve seen is the show car with the contrasting carbon flash trim that was on display during the NCM Bash back in April. But one visitor to Road America came across this Captured Test Fleet 2024 E-Ray wearing the new for 2024 color and shared it on Reddit.
If you were watching the Corvette C8.R last Sunday at Road America, you were probably feeling pretty good in the final hour of racing. We saw Garcia and the No. 3 C8.R jump out of the pits in first place at the 51-minute mark with the P2 Aston Martin nipping at his heels. After a few laps, Garcia was able to take control and was running solidly in first place.
It was during the NCM Bash this year that we learned Kai Spande was leaving his position as the Plant Director for Bowling Green Assembly Plant. Taking his place is Raymond Theriault.
