Today we are featuring this video from Colton Ray who has a small but growing YouTube channel which he has been documenting his ownership of a Black Corvette ZR1 Coupe. With the odometer nearing 2,000 miles, he wanted to offer up an “honest review” of what he loves and dislikes abouts his King of the Hill.
Obviously, there is a lot to love with the ZR1, and Colton highlights its performance and speed. He says he has experience with other powerful cars like the Demon 170 but says the ZR1 delivers supercar-level horsepower, handling, and braking. “It’s mind-numbing fast,” he says. The ZR1 is able to accelerate from 60 to 130 MPH in four seconds while the massive carbon ceramic brakes allow it to stop on a dime.
His Corvette ZR1 is not equipped with the ZTK package, but that makes for a more comfortable ride with it being too harsh. He did improve the stance of the car with Paragon’s wheel spacers.
He considers the Carbon Aero package to be a must-have for the car which adds the large rear wing, dive planes on the front corners, and the Gurney flap on the hood. He also notes that the coupe versions have additional inlets for cooling which are not present on the hardtop convertible models.
As for some of the downsides of the car, he states that it appears to be susceptible to rock chips. He does have a paint protection film installed but even then some areas are showing wear after 2K miles. He also finds that when the removable roof is off, there is considerable wind noise and buffeting. For those who plan to drive often with the top down, the hardtop convertible ZR1 might be a better choice.
He also noticed that the car has a tendency to pick up rocks which leaves them in that tunnel and points to a few that he has in there. We would recommend a set of ACS Rock Guards which totally eliminates that issue.
Overall, he considers the the ZR1 to be a standout sports car which combines everyday usability with supercar-level performance. While there are some practical considerations like rock chips, wind noise, and wheel offset adjustments, these do not overshadow the ZR1’s many strengths. For anyone considering a Corvette C8 ZR1, Colton highly recommends purchasing one, praising it as an awesome Corvette that delivers both excitement AND practicality. Check out the full review below:

The wheel offset using Paragon’s wheel spacers changes the look but how does it change the handling? Corvette engineers have looked at all aspects of this vehicle with a fine tooth comb. Why did they choose the specific offset.
Thanks for the content Keith and Colton… Nice review!
