Corvettes for Sale: Project 1963/64 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible with a $25,000 Asking Price

This 1963 Corvette convertible isn’t for the weak of heart.

Currently in what the owner calls “a partial phase of restoration,” this vintage C2 Sting Ray will need “complete interior, mechanical, and safety repairs,” he admits.

The car is being offered on Craigslist out of Danvers, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston, with an asking price of $25,500 or “best reasonable offer.”

Sporting a 1963 body, the frame is a 1964 rolling chassis that was “professionally changed over,” according to the listing. We wonder, does that make it a ’63 or a ’64?

The engine runs and operates, the seller says, but he offers “no guarantee of its performance level.”

The instrument cluster remains in place, but the interior will need new seat covers, door panels, carpet, and console, among other items.

Outside, the body looks decent enough, but the hardtop and ragtop are missing, along with a lot of the trim pieces. Hopefully, the trim has just been removed by the seller as part of that partial restoration; if not, sourcing them could be a project in itself.

In sum, the owner calls his Corvette a “good project vehicle for a body shop or car enthusiast with mechanical/autobody skills.” If you have those talents, this might be an affordable way to obtain a vintage C2 Corvette.

  1. I’m always am amused how people selling a Corvette in this condition simplified the amount of work and money that needs to done to complete a project like this. I put a new frame under our 1968 Corvette by myself and redid everything that was bolted to the frame and sent the engine and auto trans out to be rebuilt. That was back in 1985 when I was 37 years old. We still own that Vette today. I spent $5,000 back then. But my body and interior were fine. And I had an excellent hardtop and convertible top. Parts were not expensive then, can’t imagine what they will cost now. So one will spend $25000 right off the bat and then a lot more on parts ,top, paint, etc. and countless hours of their time. Better off buying good driver.
