While Julien’s Celebrity Auctions in California spotlights Wilt Chamberlain’s exotic 1986 Searcher 1 next month, a quieter star waits in the wings – this 1967 Corvette Sting Ray convertible with its own Hollywood resume.

While its condition is a little weather-worn in spots, just like a good character actor, this vintage C2 Corvette’s credentials read like a veteran actor’s IMDb page – steady work in productions you might not have seen. The auction house – which offers movie props, musician instruments, and other Hollywood-related items – says the Corvette cruised through 2016’s “Cassidy Way” with a young Sydney Sweeney and again in 2017’s “Palm Swings” starring Tia Carrere.

We couldn’t spot the car in the YouTube trailers or in the photos on IMDb, but it is possible that Sydney Sweeney and Tia Carrere could have ridden in it or maybe even gripped the wood steering wheel.

So far, that possibility doesn’t seem to have affected the price as only two bids have been placed, rising to a high of $27,500, still well below the auction house’s estimate of $80,000 to $100,000. Seven days remain, however, for this rising star to reach its potential on the big screen.

Julien’s says the car has its original L79 327/350 horsepower V8 engine, mated with a four-speed manual transmission. It also wears the original Silver Pearl Metallic paint, a shade seen on only 1,952 of the 22,940 Sting Rays that year. Other features include black vinyl interior, black soft top, dual side pipes, and original Rally wheels and chrome rear luggage, but the interior boasts of new carpet and an aftermarket invisible Bluetooth sound system.

We’re actually surprised to find that the sale also includes a binder full of records and service history dating back to 1974. The original fuel tank sticker is also present, detailing the factory options and RPO codes.
