There are a certain number of “firsts” that we are excited to see with the new 2025 Corvette ZR1 finally being in owner’s hands. We already shared the first R8C Museum Delivery, the owner of VIN 020 showing off his White ZR1 in Central Florida, and now we got the first ZR1 to hit the dyno.
This Hysteria Purple ZR1 Coupe is VIN 032 and was just delivered via the National Corvette Museum’s R8C program on Monday at noon. The ZR1 drove it to Des Moines Iowa, surpassing the 500-mile break in point as they pulled into the Paragon Performance where the dyno run was performed. Paragon also has access to another new ZR1 in the shop that hasn’t yet reached its break-in miles, so more will be coming on that.
The dyno would be measuring the rear wheel horsepower on the ZR1 and Corey explained during their livecast that they would be doing a number of pulls:
Tonight we have Graham who’s our tuner, he is in the driver’s seat. He’s going to be running this in fourth gear two times, a time in fifth gear and then we’re going to do a three-four-five gear pull with some decelerization.
After those runs, Corey and Graham go over the results and they are astonishing! While the factory rated horsepower at the crank is 1,064 – their best run shows 1,028.60 at the rear wheels! The factory rated torque is 829 but this ZR1 did 839.85 lb-ft of torque! You can see the dyno graph for yourself:
Generally, you can expect a 10-15 percent loss of power from the crank to the wheels. With a RWHP of 1028, that would mean the output could be around 1200 horsepower at the crank!
Time will tell if this was a one-off or something to expect from the mighty ZR1. We’ll need to see a few more dyno runs before deciding if GM was holding anything back. They have said repeatedly that there was no set level of hp they were trying to achieve, telling the engine guys “we want all of it.”
Perhaps all ZR1s should come with a kitchen sink?

I think the math is wrong. 1028rwhp using 15% as parasitic loss works as follows: 1028/.85%=1209HP at the crank, because 1209HP at the crank with only 85% getting to the rear wheels means 1209HP at the crank x .85% at the rear wheels = 1028RWHP. I don’t know this as fact, but it’s the way I see it. I have a Peitz Performance C8 Alpha that did 1067RWHP max/ 1038RWHP with WCF and 1004ft/lb max torque/ 977ft/lb with WCF on his Mustang Dyno which would be 1221HP/1149ft/lb torque
Thanks for the update Barry. I have adjusted the number. Still want to see multiple ZR1 runs on different dynos to know if there is even more horsepower available. Crazy numbers!
My white ZR1 also had break in miles and was on the dyno first for filming. We used my friends for the live stream…both have measured over 1000 rwhp!
Alex Peitz told me the parasitic lose of a C8 trans is 17%, that bumps up crank HP a little more
Now C8 zr1 got more than 1,000 pure rear wheel HP and only 233 mph top speed without wing? That is FAR slower than I expected. At first 1,064 HP at crank I was guessing over 245 mph and it fails badly. Not even close to Veyron. Also now more upset because it show actually 1200+ bhp and only 233 mph that is lowest top speed and highest HP ever I seen. C6 zr1 easily 226 mph out of 6th gear stock at redline with MUCH LESS power I remember it was maxed ported stock supercharger fully bolt on and e85 it somewhere 850 rwhp but reaches 226 QUICKER.
C8 zr1 way better in track always but top speed is much less than any C6. And could even c7 zr1 hit 215 mph for only 684 rwhp at 100 octane fuel with street wing. C7 zr1 will definitely over 233 with way less power.
