This 1969 Corvette Stingray T-top coupe is “golden” in more ways than one.
Besides its Riverside Gold paint job — a color that definitely looks right at home in the late 1960s — this big-block Corvette being offered on Craigslist out of Boulder City, Nevada, comes with something potentially even more valuable: its original matching-numbers drivetrain, according to the seller.
And with the price recently reduced to $45,000, the seller is hoping another Corvette enthusiast will see some gold in this old Stingray.
The car was reportedly acquired from the Galloway Corvette Collection in Boulder City and has received just one repaint, remaining in its original Riverside Gold color.
Under the hood is a 427/390 L36 big-block V8 connected to a TH400 automatic transmission – which may be enough to turn off some enthusiasts who would rather have a manual. This “civilized” brute also has power steering, power brakes and power windows.
While it left St. Louis with 390 horses, the seller believes the 427 is currently producing about 420 horsepower with the help of a Hooker Headers side-exhaust system, which adds considerably to the eye appeal.
For everyday cruising, the Corvette is presently running a 550-cfm Holley carburetor, which the seller says provides better drivability and fuel economy. But anyone who wants to wake up the big-block a little more won’t have to go shopping — an 850-cfm Holley double-pumper is included with the sale.
Of course, anyone expecting a freshly restored trailer queen should keep looking.
The seller makes no attempt to present this Corvette as something it isn’t, describing it as “not a show car or frame-off restoration, just a rare original car showing pride of ownership.”
That pride seems to be validated by the listing photos, which don’t reveal any flaws, at least to our eyes.
Rather than undergoing a complete restoration, the Corvette has apparently been maintained as a driver, and who can blame the owner for wanting to enjoy a powerhouse like this? Recent work listed by the seller includes a newer radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, alternator and brakes, along with fresh fluids and filters and adjustments to the timing and carburetor. A new battery was installed in August.
Three of the BFGoodrich tires date to 2020 and are said to have fewer than 300 miles on them, while the fourth is new and dated 2026.
There’s also an optional chrome luggage rack included with the car, along with the necessary mounting hardware.
According to the Craigslist ad, the Stingray has been meticulously serviced and maintained in a climate-controlled garage alongside other high-end Corvettes in the collection. We spotted the car in the midst of two C3 Stingrays (one white, one blue) and a C2 Sting Ray in Milano Maroon.
The $45,000 asking price also comes without the buyer’s premiums and documentation fees commonly associated with auction purchases, something the seller is quick to point out.
For some Corvette enthusiasts, the automatic transmission might make this ’69 less desirable than a four-speed. Others may prefer a pristine, body-off restoration.
But there’s something special that draws us to this old Corvette that hasn’t been restored within an inch of its life.
It’s a Riverside Gold T-top coupe with a matching-numbers 427, side pipes and enough imperfections that you might actually be willing to drive it.
And really, what good is having a golden oldie like this if you’re afraid to take it out and enjoy it?
