Looking back in our archives, we posted a story on April 24th about the Chevrolet dealer memo which outlined the important dates for 2025/2026 Corvette production. Among them was that the 2025 model year for the Corvette will be ending on Friday, August 1st and the 2026 model year will begin on the following Monday, August 4th.

Several days after that memo was received, the Corvette Assembly Plant began producing the first 2025 Corvette ZR1s. It’s been said that a total of 310 orders were accepted by GM and we’ve been watching the ZR1 production counts daily via Roger Kiel’s C8 Production Tracker on Facebook, which ended with VIN 054 being produced last Friday.

During the previous ramp-ups for the Z06 and E-Ray, Chevrolet started extremely slow and then gradually increased production counts through the end of the model year, and they have been taking the same care with the ZR1s. However, unless they are able to ramp up ZR1 production significantly in the next few weeks, it appears that they run the risk of not being able to produce all of those reported 310 ZR1 orders that were accepted for production.

It turns out that there are just 19 production days left for the 2025 model year. That takes into account that the Corvette Assembly Plant will be shutting down for two weeks surrounding the 4th of July holiday. We reached out to the assembly plant’s communication director Rachel Bagshaw, who confirmed that the plant will be closed during the week of June 30th and the week of July 7th. Employees will return to work on Monday, July 14th with just 15 days left to complete the model year run.

Will GM be able to complete all the ZR1s that it accepted for production for the 2025 model year, or will some customers get left behind? We’ve only seen this happen one other time and those customers who got bumped to the next model year were protected against price increases, so that was good news. But that was also during Covid when things were more up in the air than they are today.

As always, communication will be key for those customers with ZR1 orders, which hasn’t been Chevy’s strong suit in recent years when it comes to communicating with dealers, who then talk to the end buyer. For those that may not have a Target Production Week (TPW) yet, or one that is at Status Level 3100 or greater, it may be time to start getting worried that you won’t see your ZR1 as a 2025 model year car.
