Corvettes for Sale: One-Owner 1969 Corvette with 23K Original Miles Offered on Craigslist

The current owner of this 1969 Corvette convertible bought it from the original owner with every intention of never selling it and eventually passing it down to his son.

“But, at this point,” he says now, “I cannot give the car the attention, love, and repair the motor needs. This one is a huge ‘MY LOSS, YOUR GAIN.'”

With his circumstances now changed, he’s decided to sell this heavily documented Lemans Blue over Black Stingray on Craigslist, where it’s listed for $35,000 out of Lincoln, California.

The car – which has less than 24,000 miles on the odometer – is said to include full documentation going back to the day that delivery was taken by the original owner in Pennsylvania back in 1969, including the build sheet off the gas tank, Protect-O-Plate, owner’s manual, purchase receipt, and more.

“Owning a car like this in its all original, unrestored condition is a VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY,” the seller says, calling the car a “100% true and legitimate survivor!”

We wish more and better-quality photos were included in the listing to get a better look at it, but the seller claims the car has never been repainted and is in “very good” condition, having never been in an accident “of any type.” He even has a sworn statement from the original owner summing up the history of the car. “This was his ‘Baby,'” the seller says, “and the amount of time and record keeping he spent and kept is mind blowing.”

The original 350/350 hp engine recently stopped running while he was driving it on the freeway. He says there was no water in the oil and surmises that it may need a “minor rebuild” – the extent of which he “honestly cannot say because I am not a mechanic.”

The car didn’t overheat during the incident, simply quit running, and now when trying to start it up again, the motor turns over but won’t actually start, he says.

The seller concludes by noting that 1969 Corvettes like this “in showroom, all factory condition don’t exist anymore, and even if you were lucky enough to find one, you would pay at least double what I am asking to sell his for.”

So, does the unknown of that mysterious stall-out on the freeway concern you, or would you still like to become the third owner of this vintage Stingray?

  1. Hmmm. Not sure about this one.

I agree that better pictures are needed, but that driver’s seat looks more worn that I would expect after only 23,000 miles.

Also, going from having every intention of making it a family heirloom to putting it up for sale as a non-driving project because it stalled while driving and now won’t start, is difficult to understand.

  2. @DougR – I agree. Then again, most people can’t write a complete and coherent sentence… it makes me sad. The ad is one long run on sentence…

I agree about the seat, I noticed that… but it is a vert and the seats might just be neglected, they are over 50 years old and we all know that GM vinyl does not hold up forever!

And as far as the engine, what is a “minor rebuild”? Uh there is two kinds of rebuilds, one that lasts or one that is fast.

  3. If he expects to get that money out of this, he needs to repair the driver’s seat upholstery and get it running well again. It could be a minor electrical or fuel system problem. Otherwise, the potential buyer must assume it needs a complete rebuild or new engine.

  4. Also “In showroom factory condition.” Doesn’t run, interior trashed. Nope and asking 35k. Worth double? I also own a 69 Vette. 53,000 miles on it (and it runs) also I’m second owner and I wouldn’t expect to get 25k for mine.

  5. I have to agree with 5 previous comments $35k is way to much for is vette in its current condition. My ‘01 convertible coup with 74k miles all original with me being the 4th owner fully documented all original is in perfect working order looks a thousand times better than this example. I’d love to have a ‘69 convertible with low mileage but I would not fly to CA to look at this one.

  6. I’d be checking for Ignition Coil or if Original Distributor Bad or Corroded or Not Gapped Points or Rotor Probably easy fit been a Mechanic since I was 16 now 66 years old I’m sure I’d buy the Car 346-243-5218 David Goff

  7. Over priced gamble. If it has a club for theft protection, it likely was not garage kept. That is not a 30,000 mile interior of a cared for car!
