A black C6 Corvette might be fast, but as one 19-year-old Florida driver discovered over the weekend, outrunning the Florida Highway Patrol is another matter entirely.

Dramatic dashcam video released by FHP shows the final moments of a high-speed pursuit that ended with a trooper using a PIT maneuver to bring the fleeing Corvette to a sudden stop.

The video captures a dangerous sequence of events as the Corvette races through traffic, eventually leaving the interstate before the pursuit comes to a crashing conclusion.

According to a report by WFLA, the chase began early Saturday morning, around midnight, when a trooper spotted the Corvette traveling at high speed northbound on Interstate 275 in Pinellas County.

The trooper attempted to stop the sports car but lost sight of it near Mile Marker 34.

A second trooper, who had been investigating a crash in Hillsborough County, joined the search.

After entering I-275 from downtown, the trooper parked along the shoulder with the patrol car’s lights turned off.

It wasn’t long before the Corvette came speeding past.

According to arrest documents, the car was traveling without its taillights illuminated, weaving through traffic and making repeated lane changes at extremely high speeds.

The trooper pulled onto the interstate and began following the Corvette, which reportedly flashed its headlights at other motorists in an apparent effort to get them out of the way.

Near Mile Marker 47, the trooper activated the patrol car’s emergency lights and siren, signaling the driver to pull over.

Instead, the Corvette accelerated away.

The pursuit continued northbound as the driver maneuvered around other vehicles, apparently determined to escape.

Then came one of the most alarming moments of the chase.

According to FHP, the Corvette exited the interstate at Mile Marker 59 toward State Road 56 at approximately 130 mph.

That’s right — 130 mph on an exit ramp.

After turning right onto State Road 56, the driver continued westbound.

But the escape attempt was about to unravel.

Troopers said the Corvette driver attempted to squeeze between two other vehicles while changing lanes, striking both of them in the process.

Even that collision wasn’t enough to convince the driver to stop.

The Corvette continued fleeing until the pursuing trooper executed a PIT maneuver, using the patrol vehicle to force the sports car out of its path and end the chase.

The maneuver brought the pursuit to an abrupt conclusion, with the video showing the driver raising his hands in surrender.

Troopers then removed the driver from the Corvette and placed him under arrest.

Authorities identified the suspect as Yassen Algamaiee, 19.

He was charged with aggravated fleeing to elude law enforcement and hit-and-run involving property damage.

  1. Too green to know that nowadays the chances of outrunning and escaping law enforcement in traffic pursuit are basically nil. He also learned what a PIT maneuver is all about.

  2. So who’s Corvette was it? Was it his families Corvette,? did he steal it? unfortuniatly, young and inexperienced drivers, have no business being in any kind of performance car.
