Corvettes for Sale: 427-Powered 1969 Corvette on Bring a Trailer

When the owner of this 1969 resto-mod Corvette was 16 years old, the C3 Corvette was introduced, prompting him to vow that one day he would build the “meanest, coolest black Corvette” of his dreams.

Fast forward a few years, and now he’s finally accomplished that goal after a 10-year project costing more than $110,000.

Perhaps the thrill of the chase is gone, but now his ultra-cool Corvette is up for sale AT NO RESERVE on Bring a Trailer, where it’s reached a high bid of $24,000 with four days left in the auction.

The seller explains: “Time marches on, but so does technology. When I was offered this project, I saw that the suspension had been sorted and upgraded. The Big V-8 and transmission had also been rebuilt and ‘enhanced.’ I just had to have it! Too many years and Way Too Many $$$$ later, I finally developed a Corvette like I dreamed of! It is loud (but not illegal); Fast, Great Handler and Menacing in Black! You bet it’s Nasty! But, it’s also streetable with Modern electrics and Air Conditioning. We All know ‘That’s the Point!'”

Where to begin describing this one-of-a-kind car?

How about the powerful 427 engine with dual four-barrel carburetors, aluminum intake, aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and an MSD distributor? Some gearheads may argue against the use of the three-speed automatic transmission, but for the old-timers out there who just can’t physically shift gears anymore, maybe the TH400 would be perfect.

Of course, you can’t look at this car without noticing the beautiful black body. The widebody fiberglass is not simply fender flares, according to the seller, who points out that the entire car has been widened as shown in photos of both the doors. Other exterior details run from shaved T-Tops to 1978 Pace Car silver rocker trim with red stripes, he says.

Then there are a boatload of other modern upgrades, including electric motors for the original vacuum operated headlights and windshield wiper door, new Dakota Digital gauges, LED and halo lighting throughout, Vintage Air, JVC CD stereo, 15″ American Racing wheels, rack-and-pinion steering, and a VBP suspension system with composite monoleaf springs front and rear. The interior features custom black leather seats with embroidered Corvette logos on the headrests.

“This is a long-term project that has been carefully designed and engineered to provide Corvette IMSA and FIA Group 7 Sports Car performance in a streetable vehicle with modern upgrades, performance, capabilities and comfort features,” the seller concludes.

“I drove this 427 beauty with the T-Tops off last week to the photo shoot and realized that this Black Beauty is exactly what I envisioned when I purchased it in 2019 and began to bring it into 2024! Yes, it is expensive! Yes, it is worth a great deal more than the 10 years, estimated $110,000 build cost! Thanks to all of the astute Bring a Trailer community for the interest in this built from the heart vision of the Ultimate 1969 RestoMod!”

  1. This 69 is the American Bad Ass! After the owner spent all that time and money and doing an excellent job to build his dream Corvette, I have one question for him. Seriously Dude how could you even dream of getting rid of it?
