Corvettes for Sale: 1976 Corvette Offered on Craigslist for $8,750

Old-timers like me can remember when this 1976 Corvette was the “latest and greatest.” Indeed, a lot of people apparently agreed with us back then as a whopping 46,558 units left the St. Louis factory.

Unfortunately, time has proven this period of Corvette history to be more than a little lacking, especially in the areas of performance and build quality.

Still, one area that wasn’t lacking – and still isn’t – was the overall design, as these mid-C3s definitely can turn a few heads nearly 50 years later.

This ’76 coupe being offered on craigslist out of North Port, Florida area represents a budget-friendly entry into the Corvette hobby, with an asking price of only $8,750.

For their money, the new owner will receive a car said to run and drive “great!’ with its standard 350 V8 government-strangled engine that cranks out a puny 180 horsepower. Fortunately, it does have a four-speed manual transmission, so the driving experience still promises to offer some degree of fun.

This Corvette represents “a great start” for a restoration, the seller promises, or it can just be driven and enjoyed “as is.”

The car needs some minor body work and could use a fresh coat of Buckskin paint, a color chosen by the second lowest number of customers that year with only 2,954 produced. The matching interior isn’t terrible, but ordinary wear and tear over the past 81,450 miles has caused the driver’s seat bolster and its piping to separate and require some minor attention.

Already coming with four “like-new” tires and a “year-old” DieHard battery, this car could still use some “miscellaneous” exhaust work and “some TLC,” according to the listing.

The current owner is selling due to recent medical issues, and we certainly hate to see him have to part with his Corvette under those circumstances. On the other hand, with a price well below $10,000, there’s sure to be someone out there willing to take on the challenge of bringing the car back to life. Will it be you?

  1. In California the state is making noises about cars older than 1986, i.e. like limiting use on the road or taxing bad breath cars. 1976 also throws you into pollution control.
Just seems to be a feeling of maybe there is no future in older ICE.
