On Monday we heard about the strange case of a 2024 Corvette Stingray buyer with Museum Delivery plans who found out via OnStar that his car had been shipped to Pontiac, Michigan over the weekend. His Corvette was completed on September 28th and with it being at 4150 status, he’s already paid for the car and completed the paperwork for delivery.

Now that we’ve had a chance to dive into it along with our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, we’ve identified at least five 2024 Corvette Stingrays (both coupes and HTCs) that have been shipped to Pontiac, Michigan, unbeknownst to their new owners.

Late this afternoon, another member of the MECF chimed in to confirm that these cars shipping to Michigan is not any kind of paperwork mix-up or snafu. RedC8Z06 reached out to some people who might know, and he got a response which he shared on MECF:

“We have units going to MI for updates that couldn’t be done at the plant before they will ship to their final destination, so after it is updated it will ship to the NCM. No projection on how long it will be.”

This afternoon, we heard back from another source we had reached out to who confirmed that the reasons for the cars shipping to Pontiac are for “repairs,” and again we heard the phrase “it could take a while.”

With five cars shipped to Michigan that we’ve been able to confirm, this seems like an issue that’s just coming to light and could actually expand if they don’t get a handle on it quickly. Based on RedC8Z06s quote that these updates couldn’t be performed at the plant makes us think this issue is more than just software or a faulty component. Some are suggesting a structural issue which may explain why it’s an issue that’s only affecting Stingrays, but that’s just speculation at this point.

We’ll stay on this story and continue to share any updates we have. If you are aware that your 2024 Corvette has been shipped to Pontiac recently, let us know!

  1. Mine had been built Sept 19th and it’s just sitting outside waiting on a supply chain issue part. What a joke. 3 years later and they’re still using that excuse. CEO must go!

  2. Mine has been built Sept 22nd and after 5 weeks, I’m still at 3800. No ETA for shipping. No transparency from Chevy. Wondering how to find out if it was in that group that went to Michigan?

  3. Mine was built Sept 19th. Still sitting at the plant they tell me waiting on a supply chain issue part. 3 years later ans still using supply chain issues as an excuse. Meanwhile bird shit is baking in the fresh paint. Nice job CEO. Time for you to move on.

  4. Craigh – I got some questions for you. What Code are you at? Were you able to enable OnStar? They tell you which part is the issue? I heard the silver stock wheels, but how did it roll off the assembly line.

  5. A German autoworker, Japanese autoworker and a UAW autoworker were each put in separate cubicles with a table and three bowling balls and told to use their imagination. After a time a supervisor went into the German’s cubicle and found he had balanced the balls one on top of the other. In the Japanese cubicle they found he had balanced the balls one on top of the other and the center ball was spinning. In the UAW cubicle they found the worker had lost one ball, broke one ball and took one home!!!!!!!!

  6. AvidkRo. I was at 3800 for over 6 weeks. It was just last week Friday I moved into 4000 and at that time my Dealer was able to activate Onstar. So I was able to locate it sitting just out side of the Bowling Green facility. Tuesday early morning while at work I checked in on the car and found it had been in the middle transit, which caused me to get very excited. Unfortunately, it went past my dealer and onto Pontiac Michigan which is where it sits today outside in a GM facility run down parking lot. Ugh. So there it still sits. According to my research GM is shipping 2024 Stingrays to that location for some sort of repair or updates. That’s about all I was able to find out. Guessing another couple of weeks for this bullshit step.

  7. Craig, thanks. I’m at 3800 almost 7 weeks now. They say it’s just awaiting a carrier to be assigned. But others tell me it’s a supply-chain issue waiting for a part(s). So no visibility or ETA. Good luck with yours.

  8. Keith try asking your dealer to activate your Onstar. They can do it providing the system allows. Then load the My Chevrolet app on your phone. It’s pretty simple to do but you will need the Vin number of your built Vette. Once you’ve done that you can monitor the car’s location. I try not to check in on it too much and DO NOT play with the other functions such as starting it, blowing the horn, locking it or unlocking it. Also, I am fairly certain it will first be shipped to Pontiac Michigan for some unknown reason before shipping to you. My research on the web identified GM is doing this for some repair or software update that Pontiac is able to due.
