[VIDEO] Avarvarii Renders the 2030 C9 Corvette for MotorTrend Based on the CX.R Concept

After Chevrolet revealed the new Grand Sport and Grand Sport X this year, Corvette Team members have repeatedly stated that those two models complete the Corvette model line-up for the C8 era. Now, attention is now starting to focus on what comes next for America’s Favorite Sports Car.

Chevrolet themselves have helped move some ideas to the forefront after revealing several midengine concept cars in 2025. These designs were sourced from Chevy’s Advanced Design Studios located around the world, but one design that digital artists keep coming back to is the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo that came out of GM’s Detroit studio.

Those two advance concepts were revealed at The Quail event during Monterey Car Week in 2025. Chevrolet has also included the CX.R concept at various auto shows and we even saw it on display on the Corvette assembly line during an Open House event at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.

One of the digital artists picking the concept cars as the basis for the C9 Corvette production car is Avarvarii who was given the green light by MotorTrend to create a rendering of the upcoming C9 Corvette and it’s based on using the Vision Gran Turismo concept as the overall theme.

In addition to using the Corvette CX.R as the starting point, avarvarii also went back into time to make sure the futuristic C9 still has plenty of design cues from previous Corvettes. That includes the return of the “Coke-bottle” haunches and he describes them like this:

Perhaps the most significant design shift in these illustrations is the return of the classic “Coke-bottle” shape. By incorporating these sweeping, pronounced hips, the design instantly reconnects with the beloved front-engine Corvettes of the past—particularly the legendary C3. This brings a curvier, retro-leaning shape to the modern mid-engine layout, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice heritage for mechanical evolution.

Avarvarii says he also smoothed the aggressive, fighter-jet canopy from the concept into a more integrated greenhouse that becomes a natural extension of with the rest of the body. By giving the C9 a more organic and fluid silhouette, he believes the bodywork wraps elegantly around the chassis, creating lines that flow over the fenders and down the doors. It addresses some of the complaints about the C8’s bold design while “giving the car a sophisticated, sculpted presence that looks fast even while standing still.”

We can definitely attest to that! Check out the video he made that showcases his C9 Corvette based on the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concept car:

Alright, Corvette Nation. What are your thoughts on his design and should the Corvette CX.R be the concept car to base the next-gen Corvette on?
