DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? Corvette Buyer with NCM Delivery Sees his Car Was Shipped to Michigan

We’ve talked a few times about the 2023 Corvettes parked behind the Corvette Assembly Plant as they await parts to complete them. GM has been less than transparent with their customers as to what’s happening with them, but we are hearing that they appear to be making some progress based those who say their delayed 2023 Corvettes have shipped to dealers.

But now we’ve got another strange case of “DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR?” from a 2024 Corvette Stingray buyer whose car was completed on September 28th and has been at 4150 status for several weeks. Already, that’s a different scenario than the 2023 Corvette Z06 owners whose cars were sitting at 3800 status waiting to be completed, but it takes even a stranger turn as OnStar shows the car was shipped to a GM facility in Pontiac, Michigan.

MP99 is a member of the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com and he writes that his car was purchased through MacMulkin Corvette and he was set for an R8C Museum Delivery. In fact, he has already paid for the car and it has been registered it as well.

He finally got curious about the delay and checked OnStar for his car’s whereabouts and it pinged back that it was in Ohio. Now on Monday, OnStar was telling him it’s in Bloomfield Hills, MI and now it finally shows that the car is in Pontiac at what appears to be an old GM factory location:

“Over the weekend I noticed my car’s location pinged in OH…odd, because it should have gone straight to the museum. I figured it was an Onstar error. Then today I see it’s in Bloomfield Hills MI, and shortly after it’s at 3810 Campus Dr Pontiac, MI. Which looks to be an old assembly plant property which GM still owns,” mp99 shared on MECF.

MP99 adds that he spoke with MacMuklin who says there have been “a few others” that have been sent up there as well. He says that the “Museum is also looking into it and said there seems to be something going on with some of the units, but they are awaiting info from GM.”

We’ve been wracking our brains on what would cause GM to ship a new Corvette from Bowling Green to Michigan for some sort of “quality control” issue, especially as the car has to be shipped back to Bowling Green to be delivered at the Corvette Museum.

We’re digging into this issue a little more and have already heard from another dealer about a customer’s car being sent to Detroit for some unknown reason. We’ll let you know what we find. Of course, GM could avoid all this by just being upfront and transparent with their customers. Why is that so hard?

  1. Until they get wised up & replace Mary Barra & all the PHD women she brought along that don’t have any “AUTOMOBILE ACUMEN” with competent individuals that know something about automobile manufacturing they will never operate the way GM should.

  2. I think their was an issue with the car and they sent it up there to have it diagnosed and fixed for their customer.

  3. I agree with Jon. Mary Barra needs to go, over paid under performing CEO. Meanwhile where is my C8 built on Sept 19th?? Looking like I need to make a trip to Pontiac to see if it is there.

  4. Tracking my car through “My Chevrolet” app found that my car had been shipped just the other day to Pontiac Michigan as well. Now it just sits there outside in a rundown parking lot waiting to see its first snow fall. Apparently they are shipping Corvettes there for either a repair or a software update which is the information I was able to find on the web. I promise GM I will NEVER order another car from them after this messed up experience.

  5. My car was built on 10/2 Now been in Mich for weeks ! I paid the car in full plus registered the car and paid sales tax !!! I am a platinum GM purchaser … I purchased six vehicles in the past few years . GM must come clean on issues with new 2024 C8

  6. GM needs to be really up front. I am not upset that it’s not here but be up front about it. Rather it be getting fixed now then after I pick it up.
