The National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park is roaring its way this month to a new high-performance driving program for women of all skill levels.

The track announced this week that its inaugural Women’s High-Performance Drive Introduction event will arrive on Saturday, October 21, with a team of professional instructors joining forces to help the female participants experience the thrill of driving safely on the 3.2-mile, 23-turn road course in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

“Our goal is to make motorsports accessible to everyone,” says Greg Waldron, Executive Director. “As a father to three daughters, I am passionate about identifying and breaking down barriers for women pursuing their interests in male dominated sports.”

In a press release, the track said the event aims to provide women with “a fun, safe, and supportive environment for learning the fundamentals of high-performance driving.” All that’s needed is “a car (including convertibles), a passion for driving, and a desire to learn.”

National supporters of the new event include Mobil 1 and Women in Motorsports North America.

“Mobil 1 is proud to partner with National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park to support their inaugural Women’s High-Performance Drive Introduction (HPDI) event. We strongly believe in the mission to foster a more diverse and inclusive environment to help expand the role women are playing in the motorsports industry,” said Michelle Hassinger, North American OEM Marketing Manager for ExxonMobil, manufacturer of Mobil 1 – the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand. “Cultivating opportunities for women to experience driving on a track is a critical part of this mission and aligned with Mobil 1’s passion for the love of driving.”

Participants will break off into small groups based on comfort and skill level, rotating through a series of classroom and on-track activities led by a skilled team of professional instructors who will help them master basic car control skills, passing procedures, cornering, and more.

Classroom topics Include:
• High-performance driving procedures
• Vehicle safety requirements
• Personal protective equipment requirements
• Event safety procedures
• Communicating with your instructor on and off the track
• Basic performance driving techniques
• How to get the most out of performance driving

On-Track skills include:
• Basic car control
• Breaking down the corner – Turn In, Apex, Track Out
• Passing procedures and point-bys
• Corner Stations, Brake Markers, Pit In/Out signs
• Having fun!

Registration fee is $400. Registration ends Sunday, October 22 at 12:59 a.m. EDT. Among those already signed up is National Corvette Museum President/CEO Sharon Brawner.
