The Corvette is going to be the only option under the “Performance” tab on Chevrolet.com sooner than we thought. The Camaro’s already “abbreviated” 2024 farewell tour has been cut short by General Motors again.

In June, a pair of special edition sendoffs were announced along with a January 1st end date for the Stingray’s iconic little brother. Now, a disappointing report out of GM Authority brings news that the 6th Generation Camaro’s already dangerously close finish line has been moved forward.

The new plan will see GM’s Lansing Grand River assembly plant piece together its final drop-top Camaro on November 22nd of this year, with the last coupe following suit two weeks later on December 7th. If you were hoping to at least see some fireworks as the world’s second pony car rides into the sunset, prepare for another barrage of left hooks from the RenCen! The world-beating 1LE track package has already been forced into early retirement, the ZL1’s once-rumored “Blackwing Bump” isn’t happening, and, despite a wave of renewed hope, we won’t hear the LT6-powered Z/28 swansong that the model deserved. GM has also launched a preemptive strike on all fleet, government, and employee discounted orders for the remainder of the Camaro’s service life.

Production of the 2024 Camaro kicked off on August 7th, but with another UAW strike in full swing and just over two months left on the amended build schedule, it’s unsure how many Camaro’s will actually wear ’24 VINs when the clock strikes midnight on the nameplate for the second time this century.

It isn’t every day that a beloved piece of IP gets a second chance at life, and as Star Wars and Indiana Jones have proven over and over again, it is even rarer for these second chances to not only match but completely eclipse the original, and slowing sales notwithstanding, the Camaro is an example of something that did just that. We’ll miss the ‘Vette’s rowdy sibling when it’s gone, but after 2002, we’re trying to remain thankful that it existed at all!

  1. Damn, more BS from Chevrolet. In the meantime Ford and Mopar are eating GM’s lunch. GM has become an embarrassment and a huge disappointment. Really lame Chevrolet.

  2. GM let the retro styled Camaro linger on for too long. While retro styling has worked on the Challenger and Mustang for all these years, it didn’t really cut it on the Camaro after the fifth gen models. The sixth gen Camaro isn’t a particularly attractive car and it has caught a lot of flak for being hard to see out of. If the sixth gen Camaro could have been a clean sheet design with all modern styling, maybe it wouldn’t be getting discontinued during the 2024 model year.

  3. Dont get GM. NHRA and Nascar alone should be enough to keep the Camaro going. Disagree with the statement above, it did work for GM as well. I think GM is all in on the single digit electric car sales train. Could have done a better job promoting it, maybe some clips like they use to do win on Sunday sell on Monday. Showing the Camaro dominating the NHRA and winning championships in Nascar. Yes it is hard to see out of but most cars like this are as well to some point. I’m ok with a new design just dont jump ship on the model. Maybe bring the Chevelle back.

  4. You guys don’t know what you’re talking about. I have a 23 ss2 1le it’s a very pretty car everyone loves it. Not that hard to see out of it. If you know how to drive.it just Chevy thinks that everyone is going to buy electric cars there sadly mistaken and probably will bankrupt them.

  5. GM could never get the Camaro right after the 1960’s. Of late the car looks like it was designed by cartoonists for Jessica Rabbit. It won’t be missed.

  6. I have been a die hard Chevrolet muscle car buyer all my life. However I do not think that GM’s Camaro’s promotion has been as aggressive as Ford’s and Mopowers. Yes, sad to see the Camaro go leaving the Ugliest Corvette ever made to lead the pack. Not only that it only comes as a automatic! Just give me a break!

  7. I agree with the comment above about the ugly new corvettes. Looks like somethint China would make to knock off a Ferrari. Real car enthusiasts aren’t buying it, only the pretentious folks who can’t afford a Ferrari are. As for the Camaros, the 16-18 models were gorgeous, but absolute trash after that. The 19-23 models look like something out of Tron.

  8. 2019 when they changed the front end spelled the death of the Camaro. It was sad to see the best handling pony car ever made get screwed by clueless designers that were hopefully fired.
I had a 2017 SS 6 speed and it made my 2016 Mustang GT with PP1and a crappy 6 speed feel like a boat on the twisties. The Mustang will never handle as good as the gen 6 Camaro because of its inferior chasis, steering and crap manual trans. Now you have to buy the Dark Horse for $80+k to get the Tremec. The Mustang GT is exactly that, a GT.

  9. Man u guys talk about the Corvette. But do you home work the car was designed to be a mid-engine sports car when Chevrolet first introduce the Corvette it was not supposed to be a car with the engine mounted in the front. And by the way I love the c8 Corvette I think they finally got it right. I have own c4 c5 c6 and c8 and I know the history of the Corvette. So if u know where it all started from you would have a different look at the Corvette and understand why they did what they did to change the look . The badge on the Corvette says a whole lot look at the fleur de lis emblem on the Corvette flag that is put on the Corvette look up and see what that means you would be shock so do your homework.

  10. Not alot of people can afford any corvette but to let Ford and the Mopar people just run away from the muscle car industry is crazy. As for the camaro GM is a loser all the way. Also people won’t buy electric cars. Too much moolah!!!

  11. GM is in a sad state. But to correct the headline, let’s not forget the Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing.
