Our Three Favorite Corvettes For Sale from Corvette Mike this September

As we say goodbye to summer, it’s a great time to say hello to a new-to-you Corvette. That’s where our friends at Corvette Mike come in. With over 40 years of experience, the veteran team at Corvette Mike buys, sells, and consigns some of the best Corvettes available.

Whether you’re looking for a meticulously restored C1 or a factory fresh C8 Stingray, Corvette Mike likely has what you’re looking for. Check them out online or give them a call at 714-630-0700. Even if they don’t currently have what you’re looking for, reach out to them and they may be able to locate your next dream ride.

Our 3 September feature cars represent Corvette’s first 3 generations. We also get to see 3 different niches within our hobby including an unrestored low-mile C3, an award winning highly restored C2, and a lightly modded C1 ready for your next fall color tour.

1961 Roman Red / Red Convertible

1961 Roman Red / Red Convertible

As Corvette’s first generation prepared for its sunset we began to see sneak peeks of what was coming down the road. The 1961 Corvette model saw a restyled rear end that would carry over into 1962 and beyond. Up front, the signature grill teeth were gone in favor of a more subtle grill. Additionally, aluminum radiators became standard equipment and the exhaust now exited under the car instead of through the rear bumpers. Total production was 10,959 units with Ermine White being the most popular color that year.

1961 Roman Red / Red Convertible

Our September feature 1961 was born in attractive Jewel Blue before being resprayed in popular Roman Red. The red paint is complemented with a red interior, black soft top, and wide white wall tires. Under previous ownership the factory fuel injected motor was replaced with a GM ZZ6 crate engine. All this adds up to a great driving Corvette that just needs a new driver. Should that driver prefer a more stock package, many of the original parts including the original fuelie engine are part of the sale.

1967 Sunfire Yellow / Black Convertible

Excluding the hen’s teeth L88 (20 made) and L89 engines (16), the 400hp L68 engine was the lowest production engine in 1967. 2,101 (9% of production) of them were installed in St. Louis. This 427 was the highest horsepower engine available with air conditioning. The $412.90 A/C option found its way on to 3,788 Corvettes (16.5%) and cost $107 more than the $305 L68 engine. Now take those two features and match them to an automatic transmission and you’ve got one rare 1967 Corvette.

One rare Corvette is precisely what Corvette Mike has come up with here. In fact, he owned this nearly 40 years ago. The Sunfire Yellow car was first sold out of Cormier Chevrolet and loaded up with options. The long list of features includes the 427/400 engine, A/C, automatic transmission plus power steering, brakes, and windows. Other options include black leather headrest seats, telescopic wheel, bolt on wheels with redline tires, AM/FM radio, tinted windshield, speed warning, and a vinyl covered hardtop. Naturally it’s well documented with the tank sticker, Protect-O-Plate, complete owner history, restoration photos, and multiple Bloomington Gold awards.

1977 Silver / Red Coupe

1977 Silver / Red Coupe

As the 1970’s progressed Corvette began its transition from boulevard bruiser to refined cruiser. The monster big blocks and convertibles were gone and replaced with smog choked 350-equipped coupes. Leather seats became standard while safety and comfort replaced smoking burnouts and scorching quarter miles. Cars were flying out of St. Louis to the tune of 49,213 units in 1977 which was the final year for the flat rear window.

1977 Silver / Red Coupe

For the unrestored fans, Corvette Mike presents this 10,000-mile Silver/Red 1977 coupe. The optional 210hp L82 engine and M21 4-speed transmission motivate this C3. It’s very well equipped with air conditioning, power Windows, gymkhana suspension, AM/FM 8-track radio, rear defogger, tilt/telescoping steering column, luggage rack, and white letter tires. Additionally, it’s a multiple NCRS Top Flight award winner.

  1. Wow — that Sunfire Yellow ’67 is spectacular! I don’t ever recall seen a C2 as well-optioned as that one. Not sure how they managed to come up with the “1 of 16” stat, or what exactly that stat is supposed to mean. If they suggesting this is 1 of only 16 ’67 convertibles built with that same colour combination and extensive list of options, then (1) how do they know that; and (2) I find it difficult to believe that there actually are (or originally were) 15 more just like this one.

  2. Steve Burns — I don’t think so, as this car does not have the L89 option, but rather has the L68 400hp 427, of which 2,101 were produced in 1967.

The “1 of only 16” stat I was referring to comes from Corvette Mike’s description of this car on their website, the relevant portion of which reads as follows: “Not only is this ’67 a rare (1 of only 16 built) and heavily optioned mid-year, it’s also a car that he’s owned before. Believe it or not, Mike had this one in his possession almost 40 years ago! We always like to have the great ones back! Better late, than never!”
