Chevrolet has another order cycle happening this week for the 2024 Corvette Stingray and Z06 and we have the latest constraints that will affect these specific orders. The order cycle has a tentative Target Production Week (TPW) of 10/9 but there is no telling what will happen with the strike, so stay tuned for more on that.

It feels like the constraints are starting to get worse again, as more and more of the popular options keep showing up on the list. The visible carbon fiber options have always been in high demand, but constraints are now affecting the interior trim and the engine appearance package.

We are going through a model year changeover, and that could be affecting quantities of some of the newer items as well. Also, we saw the Carbon Ceramic Brakes for the Z06 listed in the last report, and they are free and clear here, so there is some progress happening!

Here they are for both Stingray and Z06. GM uses a tiered system for constraints and we discovered during the Z06 rollout that there were three different tiers that depends on the size of your dealership. For this constraint report, I was able to get the nationwide quantities for the larger and smaller dealers which follows each option below respectively:

Corvette Stingray
• FA5 Carbon Fiber Interior Trim (0)(0)
• ZZ3 Engine Appearance Package (0)(0)
• B6P Carbon Fiber Engine Shield (0)(0)
• GXA Sea Wolf Gray Metallic (53)(19)
• Q90 Wheel 5-Spoke Satin Graphite (104)(38)
• Q9Y Wheel 5-Spoke Silver (261)(94)
• Q9A Wheel Midnight Gray Red Stripe (187)(68)
• Q9I Wheel Gloss Black (104)(38)
• Z51 Performance Package (573)(206)

Corvette Z06
• FA5 Carbon Fiber Interior Trim (0)(0)
• ZZ3 Engine Appearance Package (0)(0)
• B6P Carbon Fiber Engine Shield (0)(0)
• GXA Sea Wolf Gray Metallic (10)(6)
• T0G High Wing Visible Carbon Fiber(0)
• T0F High Wing Carbon Flash (0)(0)

Remember that these only affect new orders going in this week. Our friend Rick Conti also reminds us that if you wanted the ZZ3 Engine Appearance Package but can’t get it, make sure you order the D3V which is the wiring for the light inside the engine bay. It’s only $100 and you can always add the close-out panels afterwards.

A note about current production…

There has been a lot of confusion about the end of the 2023 model year and when the 2024s will start up. Officially all that was supposed to happen on Monday that the 2024s would start down the line. However, they were still building 2023s as of Wednesday, and according to Roger Kiel’s reports on daily production, they will continue to do so through today. We are still not sure if they will be moving forward with the 2024 models on Friday but that seems to be the plan.

It’s also becoming more likely that the UAW will launch a targeted strike against the three automakers with select closures designed to bottleneck the system. The good news is that the Corvette Assembly Plant is not one of the three GM facilities officially being targeted. Those three GM factories are said to be the Romulus Powertrain facility in Michigan which makes V6 engines and 10-speed transmissions for the Silverado and GMC Sierra, the Toledo transmission facility in Ohio, and the Marion Metal Center in Indiana that makes sheet metal parts for GM vehicles.

  1. The reason you can get the J50 Ceramic Brake option with no constraint is because of the delayed E-Ray production start & the inability to build any Z07’s because of the Aero Packages not being available. That being said it just shows how “STUPID” Bowling Green is because what they should be doing is building the Z07’s without the aero package installed & then shipping the aero packages to the respect dealerships for them to install when the parts become available. That way Chevrolet could ring the cash register for their top of the line car & provide their customers the chance to get their Z07’s without waiting.

Overall though once again Chevrolet is showcasing their ineptitude to manage their production business by not getting new or additional outlets to procure all the necessary parts to produce Corvettes in a timely manner. Positively “SHAMEFUL”.

With or without a strike happening I foresee when the E-Ray is finally added to the production process it’s just going to gum up the works to a greater degree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. There are still many car enthusiasts out there that care about this, but I don’t anymore.

As a former owner of a C7 Z51 Corvette, the silliness of the ridiculously priced vettes at dealers and bidder auctions has really turned me off. I never liked the C8 when it came out because although the front was okay, from the doors back it was ungainly looking. If you look at it from certain angles, he back end looks like an afterthought and all that plastic is hideous.
When the Z06 was announced I was excited to see Chevy had at least tried to fix the back facia and the exhaust was back where it belonged.

However, it wasn’t long before speculators/dealers went on a greed rampage and hurt true car people. Many people will give them a pass, but I didn’t. I decided I wasn’t going to pay a premium for a mediocre car. And I say that this with some hesitation because I think the Z06 is a step in the right direction and good for car people, but the C8 is still quite a way from the real exotic brands, mostly because Chevy dumbed it down to affordability and golf club storage.

I mean, who gives a rats behind about golf club storage when buying an exotic sports car? You simply can’t build a car that is for all people and then try to pawn it off as a true exotic; not possible. As a result, I just bought another Porsche, but hey, it’s a free country and we can all spend our cash on what appeals to us right? Even if it doesn’t make sense.
