If you’re looking for a C5 coupe that’s out of the ordinary, you might want to consider this Fairway Green ’98 being offered by a Missouri dealer.
Greens were especially popular colors during a three-year period of the C2 era, as Glen Green in ’65, Mosport Green in ’66, and Goodwood Green in ’67 were chosen by more than 10,000 customers in all.
By the time the C5 arrived in the late ’90s, though, that popularity had waned. In fact, this ’98 coupe is one of just 153 coupes produced that year in Fairway Green, a shade offered only the first two years of the fifth generation, with another 155 built in ’97. After a brief break, green would return a little more successfully for another two-year run in 2000-01, this time going by the name of Dark Bowling Green, with a total of 1,329 built.
This Fairway Green ’98 is being offered for $24,900 and has been driven only 28,219 miles over the past quarter of a century.
Based on the photos with the listing from JBNS Motorz in Saint Peters, which is located northwest of St. Louis, the car’s condition overall seems to match up nicely with the low miles, especially its Light Oak leather interior that looks immaculate.
A few facts about the ’98s in general. After a low production run of 9,752 in ’97 to keep quality high, the Bowling Green factory pushed full steam ahead the next model year, building a total of 31,084 cars – 19,235 coupes and 11,849 convertibles. All featured the new LS1 345-horsepower engine that had the same 4.4-inch bore spacing and similar displacement (346 cubic inches) as the 350ci it replaced, but otherwise was new and state-of-the-art in pushrod V8 design.
