[VIDEO] Enthusiasts Braved Freezing Temps to Order the C8 Corvette E-Ray at MacMulkin

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is coming and the volume dealers are gearing up to sell the new performance hybrid sportscar. MacMulkin Chevrolet opened their list at the beginning of February and it resulted in a rush by enthusiasts to get their name on it. One of those willing to spend two days in line to secure a reservation is Craig from the Flying Wheels YouTube channel who sold off his C8 Corvette Stingray just days before. With a check in hand, he makes the trip to the new World’s Largest Corvette Dealer in Nashua, NH.

Like many enthusiasts, Craig is very intrigued by the first eAWD Corvette which promises to extend his driving time during the colder months. Before making the trip, Craig covers some of the quick stats about the E-Ray which is powered by the 6.2L 495-hp LT2 in the back while a 160-hp front-mounted electric drive motor powers the front wheels. Chevrolet says it’s the quickest Corvette ever with a 10.5 second quarter mile and 0-60 in 2.5 seconds.

MacMulkin had a mailing list already set up for the E-Ray and Craig got on it over a year ago. MacMulkin then sent out their rules for reserving the new sportscar the day before they started taking deposits. Unfortunately for enthusiasts, temperatures dropped into the negatives as a winter storm moved over the area, and thankfully, MacMulkin adjusted their rules to allow “early check-ins” at the dealership the night before. As Craig says, “We have to go tonight, and get in line, to get a number for tomorrow.”

Craig also detailed what MacMulkin required which was a $4000 check for the deposit, copy of his driver’s license, and signed agreement. These requirements won’t fully stop the flippers, but the process was a big step by making those who really wanted the car to come in person to the dealership.

“So the process was way, way more painless than I was expecting. I thought I was going to be out in the cold all night last night, all morning. This morning, never once besides doing this video right here did I ever have to sit out in the cold. The process was very, very painless. I got an email yesterday, said there’s a cold front coming in. They’re not going to let us sit outside which is great, so I sat down at dinner I opened my email read that, shot right down to MacMulkin, which is only a half an hour away from me. I got my number, didn’t take me more than an hour in line. Showed up this morning at 8am, they called my number right in. I got to stand upstairs until we were ready to go. Painless, quick, easy! Now we just sit and wait.”
