It’s officially the most expensive factory-produced Corvette ever offered for sale, and if you’re one of the handpicked teams by Chevrolet to receive one of these purpose-built race cars, it will only cost you $735,000.

That’s the word from Muscle Cars and Trucks who confirmed the price with Chevrolet Motorsports after last Friday’s reveal at Daytona International Speedway prior to the start of the Rolex 24.

Chevrolet announced the 2024 Z06 GT3.R spec in November 2021 and the reservation forms for the new sports car opened soon after. Demand was said to be up to four times the expected amount, and Chevrolet is still working through the list as they are prioritizing racers and teams interested in campaigning the new GT3-spec race car professionally.

In addition to the car, Chevrolet revealed its plans for 2024, with Corvette Racing competing in both IMSA and the World Endurance Championship with the Z06 GT3.R. IMSA will have up to four GT3.R entries running in both GTD-PRO and GTD-AM while two more GT3.Rs will compete in the FIA WEC as a way to (hopefully) score a double entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Z06 GT3.R utilizes the production frame and other components from the C8 Z06 and it’s built to meet global GT3 specifications, so other opportunities for additional series are also being studied, including SRO America and the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

Those additional opportunities also create additional challenges for Chevrolet as it works to support its customer racers in North America and Europe, with other markets still under consideration. Customers will be supported by an at-track parts truck and will carry full spares of bodywork and components in supported championships.

No customers have yet to be selected by Chevrolet, but RACER says one team targeting the new program is Rebel Rock Racing, who is on its last year with the Camaro GT4.R in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. RACER reports that Team Manager Robin Liddell says they’d like to run in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Michelin Endurance Challenge events with a GTD class Corvette.

  1. Just like the ZO6 it’s based on, it’s ridiculously overpriced.
Give us a twin turbo V8 at the same $105k price that the ERAY and ZO6 shares, and then Corvette will offer a solution for every buyer.

  2. TT C8 — “ridiculously overpriced” — compared to what? What street cars can do what the Z06 can do for less money? What do other purpose-built GT3-spec race cars sell for?

  3. WE’LL SEE HOW MANY PRO RACE TEAMS BUY IT.

IF THE Z06 IS “RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED” WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE WANT TO BUY IT ?

  4. Given it is a designed race-prepared Corvette, I guess those that think it is over priced never went thru the development expense, have no idea of what it takes to design and develop a race car capable of running with and challenging the best of the best.
Including roll cage to enhance chassis strength and protect the driver at racing speeds [180mph at Daytona], fire suppression equipment, race prepared engine / trans, especially for 24 hr races, race spec brakes and bearings, suspension pieces for the rigors of racing, oh yea, tires too, which cost on average $500/ea. Wind tunnel aero development expense, etc., etc. You really show a total lack of understanding of race car design, development, and production.

  5. Dave- it gets you a purpose built race car. I don’t know for sure, but $735,000 sounds pretty reasonable for a full fledged race car. I bet it costs a lot more to purchase a porsche, mercedes amg or a McLaren. Heck, a McLaren street car will set you back a cool $1 million. I wish I was rich & could put in a bid to buy 1 & have my own race team. I would love to get behind the wheel & drive one of those cars competitively on race tracks here in the USA & around the world. It would be a dream come true to drive 1 at Le Mans. AWESOME!!!

  6. AR…”IF THE Z06 IS “RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED” WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE WANT TO BUY IT?” The ones who are complaining about the price are not buyers. Remember the 55% who said they were “Out”, not going to buy one when the price came out? I have been on the MacMulkin list for a long time and I don’t think even 5% dropped out. The ZR1 will likely be an additional $50,000 and they will be standing in line for that one.

  7. Race cars are expensive, not surprised at the price. I wonder about available factory support with “spare” everythings teams need to stay able to run races.

  8. The price is on par for a GT3 car. You can buy a McLaren or Mercedes AMG for less, but a Ferrari or Honda/Acura are comparable. And we really do not what spares & support package is baked into the price.

The Z06 road car is a bit more expensive than I, or most people, expected. It is still a bargain at or around MSRP.

Demand for the road car is falling. It has little to do with the MSRP and more of a change in their ability to afford it. You may not see it in reservation list updates. Some people have multiple reservations across dealers. Some are just on the list to be on the list.

One business-facing automotive publication figures only 35% of Z06 reservations will result in an actual order being produced.

  9. Dougy – My 2006 ZO6 ran 10.8@128 right off the showroom floor. The new ZO6 is ridiculously priced. GM needs to give us a twin turbo V8 C8 at the same $105k price shared by ERAY and ZO6. And people posting the $765k is a good price for the GT3.R are OBVIOUSLY clueless that the Porsche 911 RSR race car that also races in GT3 is only $575k….

  10. Hey TT, can you let us know what support & spares package comes with that 911 RSR, and compare that to what package will come with the GT3.R?

Also, there is another factor in this pricing- GM wants to ensure that these cars go to a proper race team competing in a proper series, and not into the hands of collectors or ‘influencers’.
